The management stated we could not discuss the impact lower fuel prices had on the topic 'Crude oil is $86 today.... beginning of the end.' Yet this tread is for the purpose of over-the-road truck owners and how this is helping you.

Is the lower fuel prices helping you trucking owner operators, yet this topic is not about "crude and that relationship to oilfield trucking." Thank you for your opinions from outside of the relationship to oilfield trucking.

For most part diesel holds steady at:3 $ and slightly above right now.
There are 2-3 big players monopolizing, price fixing.
Gotta find some mom and pop chain to benefit from these lower, in general prices

Board price is around $3, but after discounts it's usually around $2.30.. I know alot of drivers aren't getting their full rebate so they're still paying close to $3. It all depends on the company and why type of agreement they have with who ever supplies the fuel card.

You are a fool if you think these lower prices are here to stay, it's a hiccup, a burp and prices will start rising again. The Gov't has the population used to paying the higher prices and the Gov't has gotten used to the higher tax income that comes along with higher fuel prices.
Is it nice paying less per fill up?, sure, should we be putting the savings into an account for a rainy day? sure, should we be paying down our equipment loans with the extra cash? sure, but *99.5% of drivers won't.

*99.5% is a number pulled out of my rear end and should not be taken as accurate, but it probably is.

Since the government gets a fixed tax on the fuel they could care less what the price at the pump is. By your theory they would want lower priced fuel to encourage people purchasing more thus providing more income.

Not quite true, states like OKLAHOMA get production tax based on the price per barrel plus they get money for the oil under their land. The OKC airport remodel was paid with their royalties.

does the government get more money related to the price of fuel?

i thought it was typically 40cpg or so, whether the price is $1 or $4
