    you are correct

if a 55mph truck is passing 50mph traffic, he definitely has the right to pass using the middle lane, no one should complain about that

but what tends to happen because he doesnt like being in the right lane, he sits in the middle lane, cruise set on 60 (in a 70) and looking straight ahead, not caring about what a mess he is creating behind him

You got to love the law says keep right, but they can care less what the law says about speed limit folks. I can't believe a guy with as much experience as the op has. Would even ask such a question. You better be about me me when you in a city and people get on the highway 7 at a time with 3 feet between each other. Or you you will be on side of the road waiting for the smokey to write a report. There's a time and place for courtesy.

The funny thing is I have these Knuckle head steering wheel holding drivers pulling that crap on 4 and 2lane roads. What do they want you to do pull over on the shoulder. It's amazing how much some of these goof balls are looking ahead when they are flying down the road, because they jump in front of you when u slowing down because a slower traffic that you are coming up on.

Just a rule of thumb. You coming up on somebody get you butt over and go around. I can just see you guys counting 1001, 1002. Gee willikers!

I realize this is an amazing concept to grasp, but this is a much a problem out in the middle of nowhere as it is town. Go run 35 between DFW and Austin; 3 lanes, rural. And with very light traffic late in the evening, at least half of the governed trucks will be tooling along 10 mph below the speed limit, in the middle lane, for miles and miles. Same thing between Lincoln and Omaha.

And here something to keep your mind occupied for hours. You equate lane restrictions with speed limits, yet one has a basis in reality, the other? Not so much. Do I have to go home and find the box of tickets from the 55 days, and reminisce about the scoldings received for driving at such unsafe velocities? The same places I can now run 20 mph faster and be completely safe? SMDH

Dude I was running 35 before they put up the lane restriction. Why do you think they even put up the restriction? To slow speedy Gonzales's down. I've seen truckers there and in dfw along 20 stay in the left lane till you can't see them in the horizon. Just the other day coming into Atlanta on 75 this truck stayed In the 2nd to the left lane all the way to 285. Passed I don't know how many no trucks in 2 left lane gigantic signs.

I laugh at the thought of light evening traffic from Austin to dfw. I have trouble doing speed limit in my 4 wheeler all the congestion. Really my post wasn't about speed limits, but about those who pick and choose which laws they want to follow. While expecting others to obey all laws, and I've been looking but very seldom see slower traffic keep right signs through high traffic areas. I'm going to put safety before courtesy any day. Also I travel through Lincoln n Omaha all the time and I should be going though tomorrow as well. I very seldom see guys camping out in middle lane after the J. Also if it's such light traffic and they are going so slow shouldn't take but a couple seconds to get around. Also left lane is not restricted in that area. So please try to pull the blinders over the eyes of someone other then kid dinomite.

You might check on the lane restrictions on 80. And find out you're wrong.

And I'm not up to the task of loosening your belt to get your head out of your ### so I could pull the blinders down. You ain't ever gonna see the light anyways.

    Carry on, supa twucka!

unfortunately, the posted law,as in signs, are interpreted in whatever manner the reader of said sign chooses to interpret it.beyond unfortunate is the manner in which that same driver will argue their interpretation.thankfully, at least the state of ga. is writing that particular type driver up with more frequency. hopefully other states will follow and use that as yet another revenue enhancer and a method that i will not question.

basically,if you are being passed on both sides,it is time to move right.if they are in the way and traffic allows me to do so,i ease on past using whatever lane.more power to the power trippers as they impede.

That is how it originally was and how I was taught. ...it is also how it should be.

I encountered one today, running slow in the right lane, I move to pass (okay, when Orange is passing YOU under normal conditions, someone isn't doing something right.) and he speeds up as soon as he sees me nose to nose.

Thank you for two things. First you confirmed the type of non truck that you steer. Second item is your contribution to the continued lameness. You recognize due to symbolizing.

Here in Cal they also write tickets to you if your passed on the right side on a 4 lane (2 in each direction) They write trucks for traveling out of the right lane as well.

If your traveling say on 99 north out of bakersfield and you decide to drive in the left lane you will probably get 2 vioation, speed and lane.

I dont really care that much just dont come on ater crying about it. Pass then get back right.

I had a guy New Years Eve I rolled up on him ( He caught up with me at Loves Tulare), dropped over to the right lane passed him, he got ticketed for being passed on the right, 57 in a 55. He was upset telling me they were my fault. He told me he always drives i the second lane and normally runs 65. Luck will run out somewhere. Pay the price for what you do, then just shut up and get donw the road.

Thats my Happy New Year Story, Well Happy for me.
