Yes on more repairs......coolant leak kept coming back, dash would reset and sweep going down the road and several "oh sheet " lights come and go with no loss of power.

Yeah engineer was spouting the progressive shift stuff too. I told him no thanks......see I was oilfield and the master was paying me to haul heavy and fast.....and he went on to talk about mpg's and I told him again...IDC. Truck totes 160 gal and I can flip 2.5 loads on that with DEF once a week. I'm hammering the mule and ripping the tires off because I get paid to bring crude to the rack. If the master wants fuel mileage then have him pay me by the hour and not by the BBL.

I think International is on the right track now 2015 and forward. I would imagine they will rebrand the Maxxforce motor 3 years down the road after they copy what works with the Cummins. Major flaw is the Cummins EGR IS buried in the motor were the DD15 is easier and cheaper to get to. More shops are getting better at trouble shooting EGR/DPF issues. They were smart to discontinue the MaxxForce. I told them at the MidAmerica truck show last year they were foolish in only offering the MaxxForce in the LoneStar. They quickly got away from that idea!

Your boss man can turn off the Progressive shift setting in the ECM. That's more of an in Highway feature.

Ok so now I'm certain the 2014 MaxxForce motors are just as bad as the 2010-2013. The cold weather is causing the EGR to leak coolant again. Going to be in the shop Monday for my second EGR repair in 212,000 miles. The good news is, the shop we use is so good at handling EGR issues, the down time is 2 days compared to a week. Glad I don't own this truck. It's a shame though. The engine itself is solid. Doesn't use oil, pulls well.

The Volvo I shift won't let you exceed 63 mph/1400 rpm when in manual mode and in 11th gear. If you have your cruise set above 63 and put it in manual mode and downshift to 11th, it will reset your cruise speed to 63 and won't go faster until you up shift or put in in drive. Even automatics have progressive shifting lmao.

I hate it. Don't wanna hear about it fuel savings. I hate the cost of maintenance.

That cruise thing is something else. I was spec'ing a new truck and told the dealer I wanted the truck governed at 70 and cruise at 68. He said oh, a soft cruise. I asked him what he meant and he said most companies now take a hard cruise option. With the cruise set you can travel a few miles per hour faster than with the pedal to the floor. The old school thinking was if you blew a steer tire you needed to stomp the accelerator then gradually slow down. If you were maxed on the cruise you still had some left over on the pedal. Now they just care about fuel economy.
