Tools that are good to have

it all depends on how mechanically inclined you are. If you are pretty good at that then carry a decent set of tools with you. Saves a fortune in roadside repairs. If you don't know the first thing about mechanics then don't bother with anything more than a few wrenches, screwdrivers, visegrips and pliers.

 

It depends on your truck and your situation. If you drive a s***box your needs will be different than a driver in a new truck who only thumps the tires and checks the oil.

 

As many tools as possible, because the one you leave at home will be the one you need on the road.

Gladhand airhose for airing up tires on trailers, I also carry jumper cables since I drag a reefer. Can jump it from the truck or vice versa, basic hand tools such as flats and cross tip screw drivers, sockets, crescent wrench, pliers, vice grips etc., 2lb engineer hammer, Flashlight, bolt cutters, cable cutters, tire guage, tread guage, wire ties, butt connectors, crimpers.

 

i will be going from automotive mechanical to trucking so i'll have plenty of tools to bring along. wonder if they would allow me to bring my whole tool box

 

Sure, weight is no issue at all

 

Im sure I'll bring a few but i think those craftamam tool kits are handy on the road and very organized as well

 

I was thinking more along the lines of just strapping the box on the catwalk LOL

Those kits are generally well put together, but probably more than the average driver will ever use out here, except for the O/O's working in their own trucks. A lot of companies do not really want drivers touching the trucks, often because of warranty issues.

 

Yea i see that being an issue and also if i were the emloyer i dont think i would want drivers messing with a 100k truck
