Anywhere from 80 cents to $1.30 a mile. $1.40 on a good day. That is outbound dry van from Texas when you NEED the load. Since you HAVE to get back to Alabama that is about the going rate you're going to get offered. I get a lot of offers down to TX that I can't make any money on when I'm looking for quick ways back up to here. Now if your model were different you'd be taking a risk going to Texas on $2.50 a mile but it is more workable that way than going down there on $2.50 and right back to AL on what you can get. You can listen to some guy from Iowa that doesn't know or someone who does and telling you that is a lose, lose even if you do take 100% cut. Good luck whatever you choose.

Rolling Coal is right they don't want to pay nothing to go from Texas to Alabama. Best bet is to stay out of Texas but I live here and always have problems finding a good paying load out of here.

Not to beat a dead horse but you can't just sit there and proclaim "$2.50 a mIle to TX" is a "good rate" and go for it... Without knowing what your reload options out of Texas are. Who books a load without knowing what reload rates will be? Do you guys not check first if you don't know? If you're accepting $2.50 a mile to Texas on 500 loaded miles or even 1,250 loaded miles the rate is a sucker rate (unless you live there) and too low if your intentions are to average $2.00 or better on EVERY mile for that round or the week. You will sure find that out when you get to TX. Let me be clear that I have never claimed nor said that one must always insist on $3+ a mile reloads out of EVERY market. That is insanity and simply not going to happen. Nor have I ever claimed that $2.50 or even $2.00 or even a $1.75 per loaded mile reload was bad in every market. I will accept rates like those many times back to TN. In some markets SOMETIMES but not always, like I would wish, I can get around $3 a mile back to TN or even AL but it is rare circumstance. So to sum this up. Don't tell someone $2.50 a mile is a good rate to a market if you really don't know yourself. $2.50 a mile to some places is good. To TX it is not. But for whatever reason there are lots of carriers who will go to TX and leave there cheap. Even worse in the winter. Loads to trucks are like 4 to 1 last I checked during the holidays. Have fun with that one.....
