Apparently there are parameters that need to be met before a truck will do 62. And this one seems to use an awful lot of fuel.

After about a hundred million years I am finally loaded. Only a few hours left on my 14 so slamming some coffee and moving out. This is the bad thing about driving a slug -- when somebody screws you over you can't make up the time. ETA update now and I'll know tomorrow if I need to send a service alert. Hopefully not. Stay tuned....

    I am Captain Zoom.
    The Zoom is ironic.

    62 mph?
    Hmmmmm ------ :smt017

I'm thinkin' more like 92 mph.
    Then, the Zoom would be
    iconic. :smt045
Not that the Zoom isn't already. :smt112

Eerkkk. Morning came early today. Wondering if the slug can do 597mi in one shift. Through the mountains. We'll see --10hrs up in about a half hour.

Just for a change of pace, today I will do my pretrip as Bruce Lee. And if I get pulled or inspected, I will answer all questions through interpretive dance. I'll let you know how that turns out for me.

Just over 100 miles to go, just over 2hrs on my clock. My plan to get to the receiver tonight was looking pretty good. Then I found out there is no overnight parking, aaargh, eeergh, aaack. Okay, I'll get up early and start pretrip at 0445, run the load in, and hope they take more than two hours to unload me. Guess the sleeper split is good for something after all. Sure is a narrow set of parameters though. I can remember the 5-5 split. Team drivers I knew loved it.

Gonna pass out now. I'll let you know if it worked out (being late ranks right up there with porcupine wrestling on my list of favorite things).

    Captain Zoom,

When I drove OTR, I would split all the time. Worked like a charm and never got looks from DOT. It can be useful when long waits are at the receiver and you need hours.
