Lasik Surgery - which is the right one for professional drivers ?
Regular "standard" Lasik - RECOMMENDED - Best for drivers:
There are really two types of Lasik Surgery - one is your regular Lasik to correct your vision to as close to
20/20 as possible, after this surgery you most likely will have 20/20 vision and may or may not need glasses just to read up close.
if you do need glasses it will be 1.00 power.
"Mono Vision Lasik" - best for people who read a lot:
The next type of Lasik is Mono Vision Lasik is for people who want to have one eye for reading and the other for long distance.
What you should understand:
What you need to know - as a driver if you elect to get Mono Vision - you will be driving with one eye, your strong eye.
The Mono eye - would be used for reading without glasses, with Mono Lasik one eye for reading and for reading only,
that mono eye will only see for about the distance of your computer ** beyond that you can not see anything, it is a blur.
if you put your hand over your distance eye (strong eye) everything would be a blur beyond 20 inches - with the mono eye.
The problem with mono vision
the problem with mono vision with driving a truck - is you are driving with one eye - not good and worse at night
further putting much more stress on your long distance eye.
Bottom Line - is if you are a professional driver you definitely do not want Mono Vision Lasik.
The Lasik Surgery Procedure:
Lasik Surgery takes 10 minutes - its ALL done by computers, so there is no operator error
so its not so much the operator as the equipment being used, the newer the better.
The only thing you want to know for certain is - if they have the very latest newest Lasik Surgery
equipment and that should/would be put in writing for you when you sign a deal with them,
they will list the actual Lasik machine they are using in your surgery as they did mine.
Chance something will go wrong:
Highly unlikely, there have been literally millions of these procedures done worldwide and rarely
has there been serious issues, sure you will read about a few people who had a problem but
99.8 % are done with good results. and it gets better with the new Lasik equipment.
COST: 2.000/ 2.500
Lasik used to cost 4 to $5.000 dollars to have done, not any more most large cities have the same
Lasik Surgery for 2.500 and many have on the spot financing with decent credit, you can call and ask
about financing and terms, mine was 12 months Zero interest.
Financing:
* They will ask you for your SS number and run your credit on the spot if your ok like a 550 your good to go!
and in 24 hours you will see again. ** you can shop around, but go with the better Lasik Company,
I would rather spend 500 more to go with the more established Lasik office. * KEY: best Lasik equipment *
Choose a Lasik Center:
Choose a Lasik Center - that has the Latest Equipment and has done many surgeries.
Conclusion:
I have had many friends have Lasik Surgery and all say it is the single best move they made
to improve there vision and lifestyle, personally I went from struggling to see to 20/20 vision
and i use 1.00 power readers for my computer, my suggestion is do not wait - get'er it done !
* and you do not want Mono Lasik - you want standard lasik for driving WITH both eyes.
