I currently drive for prime. With a year OTR you start at 41cpm if your reefer you get 5cpm and stuck in a LW.I'm flatbed and get a condo. If you run NE regional it's another 5cpm but you have to live in the NE to get on it. So staring out just as a company reefer driver you get 46cpn and NE get 51cpm average on the reefer side is 2500 miles a week.
I'll post the thread in a min.

repeat after me Pete is always right
if in doubt repeat again -
Can one of you guys help me please!
My husband signed a 6 month lease for a '13 T700 last week and I have a trans am folder that explains what you would pay etc, like the truck payment, apu, insurance, etc.
I'm still a little nervous that he did this because he is a new driver. We discussed that he would be a company driver until he got the hang of the industry and if later on down the road, he MAY sign a lease if he felt comfortable by then. Well after doing his training, we discussed the lease and I told him if he thinks he can swing it, then I trust his judgement. I still felt a little uneasy but i'm not the trucker so I can't make assumptions!
Would anyone be willing to break it down for me roughly how this whole lease thing works? He told me that in training they told him that approx 1800 miles covers the cost of the truck.
He says his payment is $625 a week but can't recall of the top of his head if that includes the APU. (He has a few more hours of drive time before he can gather his paperwork)
I got this so far but I know i'm missing alot:
truck payment: $625
APU:55
Physical damage insurance:145
Prepass:3.40
Escrow:25
If this helps...he says he gets 6.6-6.7 miles for fuel and he is using the fuel solutions when he can
Thank you and sorry if i'm being a pain in the ###!!! -
Tried it Pete, needless to say it just wouldn't come out, it was kinda like having a mouthfull of peanut butter with those words.
. But you also know what the old saying is, with age comes wisdom.
HometimeQueen and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
Bunniie, have him give you his driver code then you can go to transamtruck.com and login with his driver code and the password is the driver code and last 4 of his SSN. Then you can view the complete settlement. They also put money into his maintenance escrow based on mileage as well as the lease payment miles. Satellite is another $15. Bobtail insurance another $8. The accountant if he opted to use them is $17. Fuel expenses will vary according to true mpg weighed against the price he paid for fuel. There is nothing easy about the lease. Except going broke.
HometimeQueen, Panhandle flash, Bunniie and 1 other person Thank this. -
Bunnie the way they settle up on a lease is so confusing it took me 2 months to understand
they charge you for fuel in one section reimburse you for the fuel surcharge in another
I was 2 months before I got it after having it explained 3 times
Now that he has signed the 6 month lease just tell him you love him
and to do his best. It is overwhelming as a new driver just to see how expectations and reality dont mesh
If he can hang for the first 6 months he can move to better jobs that demand experience
after 3 6 month leases with TransAm I got a great job doubling my income from TransAmBunniie and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
Thanks honeybadger and Mr.cranky haha
I do tell him I love him, in fact he's asked me if I still do after he signed the lease. He knew #### well before orientation to not fall for the lease but well....it's too late.
So one more question... As long as he has 2600-2800 miles a week, will he be okay?
All this 0.04 CPM talk confuses the hell out of me! I'll see this Friday in his settlement for his first official pay after training.
I'll tell ya what..... I have respect for you guys way more now than I did. His trek unit(?) kept going off for what seemed like an eternity...YOU HAVE A MESSAGE!!! Hahaa I'd lose my mind!! -
Ahhhh.... going from auburndale, fl to Denver, Colorado. ..1777 mile run after just doing 1700 from Friday to monday.... side note to self..never stop to Legoland for 5 year old son... ( took out phone box...actually just bumped it with the trailer skirt and just needs to be put back together).... just another fun day at the office...sigh

what never seems to get thru to these new people until after the fact is lease means
everything is on you
your self employed no taxes taken out
no health insurance
Bunnie you stay right here dont feel stupid for any question
we have all been there
the day i started with 18 other lease guys i was the only one to survive the first 6 months
we will help as much as we can
remember no matter how bad it is it isnt the rest of your life
the week before i started at transam i got an unemployment check for $225 so it was a step upcrazy driver 72 Thanks this. -
Don't judge the first 2 settlements...because there is no truck payment coming out of the settlement...625.00 for 700???? That's more than a 2015 680...not doubting you just asking g
