My poppa told me that tobacco and mules built this country, until steam shovels and detroit diesel came along. I see things from a different perspective now. I realize that those who sacrificed before me were some pretty d-amn smart people.

All right guys, I'm getting lots of ideas here, I have 2004 Columbia, Detroit diesel series 60, egr type engine, the coolant is developing pressure in the top up reservoir and leaking out, and I have to top it up . but the truck is running fine, it pulls up, as it used to, the fan works and brings the temperature down as usual, everything working fine. The oil sample says, no coolant in the oil, no diesel in the oil, all metals wear normal. A visit to friendly neighborhood mechanic tells me, it could be a head gasket or an air compressor, any ideas how to check air compressor. Did change it two years ago, again no leaks are detected as yet, thanks and have a blessed day

You probably have sunken cylinder sleeves or cracked cylinder head.

To check the air compressor, just disconnect the air supply line and run the engine like that for 20 min. Take a small bottle filed with water and put the plastic hose from the top up reservoir in, raise the rpm to 1000 and see if there are any bubbles showing in the bottle ... if you see bubbles - you have sunken sleeves or cracked head.....
