Got to Clorox in University Park IL a day early, no issues as it was a drop. Only snag was there are no empties, so I bobtailed to Petro to hibernate. It. Is. Cold. The landing gear grease was all gummed up and it was a real core cranking it down, and the fifth wheel release wouldn't work at first (Gordon uses air release fifth wheels -- nice when they're working, a real pain when malfunctioning).

Told night dispatch I'd bug day shift about an empty. She allowed as how that would be all right. So, on my way to an okay week, about 20 or so hours on my 70, reclining in my Fruit of the Looms posting a blog entry. The Hot Chick says I may be getting used to how they do things here. I never realized how much I was micromanaged over at Celadon. I'm trying to give them what I think they want as far as information and driver accountability goes, and they're wondering why I won't quit bugging them and just drive the darn truck.

Stress levels are down since murdering my GPS. I have to pay more attention so I'm more engaged in the driving process.

    We ate the goat.

Subscribed as your posts are funny. I don't think you owe the wife $150. Just write it off on your taxes.

What's with the new avatar? I miss your hat. Saw a low mileage 1 owner goat for sale yesterday. Let me know if you're interested.

    Heh... is it a Pontiac?

Tried to put a better pic of myself up and the phone butchered it. Haven't been able to fix it yet. Could be a while. And I'm afraid the old one is gone forever, 'cause my phone sucks.

Your avatar kind of looks like Squall from Final Fantasy VIII. Forgive me if it isn't.

Oh my goodness, what a lousy day this has been. Up at the usual time (0630) with available time set for 0800. I get a load around 1000. Go back where I dropped last night and get an empty, then 55 miles to pick up near Plainfield IL, then 98 miles to Janesville WI. Am told it is backed up with a 300-miler to OH. Okay, no problem boss. Except no empties when I get to Clorox. Quick message to dispatch, back to Petro, twiddle thumbs for an hour waiting for them to find me an empty. Hungry. Get lunch. Call from dispatch -- found you an empty. Finish lunch, ask directions to shipper, move out to empty location. 30 min later get a response to query for directions: "10-4 thanks." Scratch head, ask again. Pick up empty another 30 min later, still no directions. Ask a third time, tell dispatcher I have no GPS (remember I murdered it recently). Immediate dispatch. Okay fine, I'll just send macro for directions. Send and get directions. Move to shipper. Pick up trailer after fighting with air release for fifth wheel which won't let go. Then play with frozen tandems and scale til load is legal. Move out. Perform regen for APU which is flashing lights at me telling me it's due. Done. Get to Sam's in Janesville. Cut corner hard to set up to drop. CLUNK. Get out to find the line hanger broken and pigtail hanging down on catwalk. Air lines stretched from turn. They stay stretched (won't coil back to original shape -- prolly from the cold). Back into door, muscle landing gear down, unhook lines, 5th wheel won't release. Fiddle with it for another half hour, get it to work. Hot Chick points out that DPF fault light for APU is flashing. Noted. Jury rig pigtail to hang above catwalk. Get back to TA and parked, send writeups for equipment. Collapse in bunk. Total elapsed time: 16 hours. Total paid miles: 168. Company wants me to communicate but I can grow trees waiting for a response, IF they deign me worthy of one. It's getting old.

Have noticed that I am being run like a regional or local driver. Where are the tall miles out west I was supposed to be getting?? I've been averaging less than 400 miles a day. This might be the tired and stressed taking but, I'm wondering if I've made a huge mistake coming here. I told you folks I'd keep you posted, good bad and ugly. Well right now my attitude is in the toilet from dealing with a company that doesn't seem to like to communicate with their drivers. I'm hoping it's just my current dispatcher; be just came from Celadon and seems to still be working the same way. Friends who knew him at Celadon say he sucked. I'm trying to hold out til I get off this guy's board and I get a Gordon veteran. The guy I have now doesn't know how to look out for his drivers and keep them happy. At least that's my current perspective; I admit I could be off.

    Sleep now.

98 miles to Janesville Wi backed up by 300 miler to Ohio. That's not a plus..... I guess the team trucks must get the big 600 mile loads lol. I would call them and ask If they know you are running a sleeper truck?

At the very least they could give you a load long enough to air out the fart smell from the night before sleep.
