Told me they had a nice long list of freight to pick from tomorrow, so we'll see what the big dollar winner is. Lil bit cool here, but at least none of the fluffy white stuff. Duo, hope y'all get your sitiation straight. Y'all have a good 'un. Check y'all later!

santana did the same thing a few years back but he went all in and did a whole album with various new breed talent ( and I use the term talent in the loosest and condescending sense possible ) in a misguided attempt to stay relevant to a younger audience. It went over like a lead balloon. only one song got any real airplay and the whole experiment is largely forgotten now.
I tried to to keep an open mind and bought it. It was terrible.
As a semi-professional musician, I'd rather be true to who I am as an artist and only sell 100 albums than sell out who I am to marketing and a&r guys and sell a million.
But it then again, I never was a good politician lol guess that's why being alone in the truck suits me so well.Last edited: Jan 8, 2015

You say that like its a good thing... Not like what we have now is working, I'm 99% that even the most asinine, annoying person on this forum could do a better job as long as they don't get sucked into the riff raff.
Its one thing to adapt to the present day taste in music (which even I as a part of the younger generation know it sucks.), but a whole other thing to become another artist in the same skin. There's a reason that nat king cole and Gershwin are still known quite well and used in present day stuff... -
to your first point.....that I'm no politician I see as a very good thing. That people are so scared of saying what they think and standing up for what they believe in for fear of 'offending' some person or group is offensive to me and degrading to the country. If I had a year in Washington to do as I saw fit this would not be the entitlement welfare state country it has and is becoming. People would actually have to work for and earn what they have the way I did......barring some complete and/or legitimate hardship or disability. Which is exactly why I'd never be elected. That I lasted almost 20 years as a general manager in a union environment is nothing short of amazing considering I wouldn't play the game and give in to union pressure every time I held an employee accountable for their poor work ethic or quality. I'm just thankful I'm at an age where I won't be alive in 50 years to see what has become of this once great country although I am fearful of what my children and grandchildren will have to deal with. Beyond that I won't derail this thread into a political discussion.
To your 2nd point there's a reason nat and Gershwin, goodman, BB, and many others are still well known and reevant while many others who try to regain that lost fame fail.
Theres a very thin but clear line between knowing who you are as an artist and growing and reinventing yourself.....and selling out to generate numbers based on what some suit tells you the public 'wants'. Too few of the former and too many of the latter.Last edited: Jan 8, 2015

Who has time to listen to music when you have so many voices in your head. Singing nan nany boo boo your wife left you, or that never gona have a life song never gona have a life song. That goes on and on. What I would do to have a roll on 18 wheeler song in my dome. There they go again singing good night sweetheart it's time to go. They are so jealous.
peterbilt_2005, flyingmusician, Giggles the Original and 1 other person Thank this. -
Whelp.. +30º improvement from the FL panhandle to just Ocala. Actually got out to swing the doors here with no hat or coat LOL. I did wear gloves to avoid a blister from all that effort. Onward, in a few more minutes, to the Tampa TA since I have enough time to get there and only 10 mins away from where I need to be at 0600 tomorrow. If it weren't for the closeness and that they have Popeyes, I would never choose to stop there. If I'm lucky I won't need to pay for a spot. In either case, I'm looking forward to a few extra bonus hours to lounge around after this morning's early start.
Dinomite and double yellow Thank this.
