Transam sends trainees out with "trainers" for 10-12 days before they go solo
someone in the traing department told me when i was there
that if they just get 1 load from each new driver that is one load less to cover
they had 1100 trucks 4 years ago still have 1100
yet 30 people go thru orientation every week :biggrin_2551:

Panic is never a good option. When in doubt in this situation set the parking brakes, put on the four ways, and dial 911. Get out and look. You can also pull up satellite view on your smart phone to see exactly what you have ahead of you.

that is exactly what I did. Just stopped put four ways on and called the shipper and talked to a guy that knew the area and he directed me out to the truck route. Pissed a lot of people off that day even the bus driver flipped me the American Peace Smybol. But in the end everything was finer than frogs hair

Oh, I agree just trying to make sense of how he could of done this. I would think he did take the time to look at his route. That is why I think he panicked and that could of happened whether he was experienced or not. Could not find street view or a good satallite view of corner of kase and rock street where he hit the house. What i could see in the area was very narrow streets with cars on each side.

Wish I new more so this would make since..................

i think we have all been in tight situations where it would take an act of God to get us out

    and we got out

sometimes we may have had to backup for miles

or other times, (run over some grass)

or going down a "no truck street"

i took out some overhanging wires for about 3 city blocks once, got stuck in the Bronx and could not go forward and had to back up into heavy traffic

    it happens

but you gotta weigh your options (mr usa u-turn) and the guy in this thread did not weigh their options, they just barreled into stupidity-history
