Got my rear end kicked in Chicago traffic. Then two close calls when the truck lost traction on some ice. Then signs on the highway saying I-94 is still shut down near Kalamazoo (my destination). Add all the suicidal four wheelers into the mix, bring to a boil and stir, and you get a nice bowl of shutdown soup. Gordon was extremely cool about it, which is plus ten in their ledger. It may help that I got another dispatch guy today after complaining to my old dispatcher's super about his seeming aversion to giving me timely and accurate information. Also their mistaken impression that I'm an hourly paid local driver.

We'll see how it goes. I know I can do the job. I need these guys to prove they can do their end.

    Stay tuned....

Sheez, all this stress lately must be getting to me. I'm usually a laid back (ish) guy but I just called a super trucker out on his BS about chasing down a speeding trooper in his triple digit truck and effecting a citizen's arrest and detaining him with his own gun til the US Marshals got there to take him away. What is WRONG with some people!?

The Hot Chick is thinking I should take Risinger's offer, stat. I'm willing to give Gordon one more chance. They're treating me well enough, except dealing with anyone at my terminal is like running through waist deep water. It seems to take an awful lot of time and energy to get anywhere.

Is it going to be worth sticking around a little longer with the new dispatcher? That guy by himself can't do squat for me. It's the team as a whole that provides driver support. I guess I'm hoping the new dispatcher comes with a new planner and csr.

    It's late. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

I never heard of the U.S. Marshalls until I got in Trucking. Are they the ones who answer on emergency channel 9 ?? Lol. You will know in your gut and wallet when it is right to jump ship.

As if some cop is going to turn his gun over to some truck driver to arrest him with. Hilarious.

"BY LAW they have to turn it over if it's a legitimate citizen's arrest! BY LAW! BY LAAAWWWWW!"

-- Okay, you have swayed me with your reasoning and superior intellectual agility; I have no counter to your argument. I guess it's true what you said. I apologize for not believing you.

Welp, time to get moving. Reckon I'll go see what the scuttlebutt is around the breakfast bar but I gotta move this albatross either way.

As far as I can tell 94 is still closed. It is east of where you are going though, so you can get to Kzoo with no trouble.

Shut down again. Lost traction three times this morning. I have 44,000lbs of scrap paper in the box and I can't keep it straight or slow it down without it squirming all over the place. A pickup changed lanes in front of me too fast and ended up backing into the ditch -- when I tried to slow down (he cut me off) nothing happened. If he hadn't spun into the ditch I would have hit him. Looks like another day off. I may try again later but the roads to Grand Rapids (preplan pickup) are even worse than they are here. Add to that my wife needing her meds (almost out) which we can't buy til direct deposit hits on Mon or Tues, and that's IF we got paid properly which I have no way of knowing since Gordon seems to think that kind of stuff is none of my business (they mail settlements home, like I can get to my mailbox every week), and our stress levels are pretty extreme.
