Go to a truckstop and find someone to help you... or a fellow truck driver.... I am sure most anyone would help you for a lot less than that.... if you can parallel park, then you can offset....

What is causing the problem? If it's because you can't get lined up right on the blind side, try this. Get a large mirror that women put on the sun visor to apply makeup. Strap it to the passenger side visor, and adjust it so that you can see the trailer when you're moving toward your blind side.

Try driving forwards through it first, and pay close attention to where you make your turns. Memorize those places where you start turning, then do the exact same thing in reverse.

Get a toy truck, and set up the offset on your kitchen table. Do the offset with the toy truck, and pay attention to how you need to do it. Then remember that when you're actually doing it in the real truck.

    shellyshell20 and GWIZ2260 Thank this.

I added more to my post.

Also, if your truck has power mirrors, you can adjust the passenger side mirror so you can watch the trailer as you back on the blind side. Just don't forget to put it back when you get straight. Don't be afraid to stop a few times to re-assess during the process, and don't be afraid of losing a few points if you have to pull up. Some people in our class backed out of the first side, then pulled WAY up and got lined up for the second part, effectively turning it into a 45 degree sight side dock. 2 points off, but still passed.

Sounds like your instructors aren't giving you the help you need. I'd ask for my $750 back if they can't effectively teach you to get those basic maneuvers down.

That toy truck exercise really helps, I laughed when I first heard about it, but it definitely did help put an image into my head of how it was supposed to work.

Don't kick yourself in in the butt too hard. Driving isn't for everyone who wants to be a driver.

If you think the driving is hard, wait until you actually get a job. Driving is only about 30% of the battle. It isn't rainbows and kittens.

If you don't pass, take them to small claims court. Sounds like the instructors aren't doing their jobs, especially since they haven't suggested any of these things to you. And they want $750 more for 10 hours? Sounds like a scam to me. Set you up to fail, then demand more money.
