A FM can make or break you. Glad to hear the new one seems decent and better.

What % of drivers have 1, 2 or more years in with TMC? Also any perks come with seniority like better paying loads? do they run you many empy (unpaid) miles? Just curious, thanks

Trkrjim, I don't know the % of tenured employees, but from my understanding the longer you're there the more CPM you'll get (to a point, at least), which is par for the course for any company.

If you chose to go with percentage pay, TMC takes a snap shot every month determining what percent of the load you'll earn for the next month. In that snapshot they assess points based off a number of factors, one of which is tenure. Higher points = higher percentage of the load = mo money.

There are also additional benefits like % vested in your 401K and the ESOP as you've been there longer.

i would assume that as you get tenure you'll build relationships with the FM's, which could result in better loads. Another thing that will come into play there is what freight line you're on (which part of the country you're running) and how long you're willing to stay out (the longer the better).

i read his entire thread and it looks like there are definitely some unloaded miles to get from the drop of one load to the pick up of another, but if you go CPM pay you'll be compensated for loaded and unloaded (from my understanding at least). If you got percentage pay, it should balance out.

i don't work there yet (start in two weeks), so I'm not speaking from experience, but I figured if do my part to keep this conversation going as Gunner seems pretty busy out there, and these are all questions I had, and the answers I found.

I believe that guys that have been here forever have a little extra something in it for loads, but hey, loyalty should be rewarded somehow. Then again, most of the old timers are on john Deere or boats. One of my frustrations with John deere was that the old guys were ALWAYS under the rgns and refused flat loads. Some would only run loads with certain guys as well.

Theres going ing to be empty miles anywhere you go. I believe anything over 149 miles is paid per mile for an empty bounce on percentage. There's also times you'll have a 10 mile bounce as well. It just depends. Sometimes you get those runs where you get 138 bounce miles, but really it's 152 because it's all the closer truck routes can get you. You can ask your fm to up your dispatched bounce miles, or if anything take the extra miles off in order to save your OOR miles. They will work with you.

TMC is a giant company, you will be in the area of a lot of drivers a lot of the time, so you will be fighting for freight most of the time as well. That being said, you work hard, your fm will work hard for you. I know Gunner can vouche for that. There are instances where your fm just doesn't care and just throws loads at you just to get them off of their board. So, be patient, roll with the punches, and if anything, let them know you're unhappy, talk to your team leader, talk to Tim, hell, talk to Harold. They will figure it out for you.

I'm one of a belief that tenure based pau is a sure fire way of keeping junk drivers around. Our percentage based pay rewards us for doing good work and working hard. The more efficiant and better job you do the better paying higher percentage you'll see. It also depends on your fleet manager. As you can see in one of my previous posts, I had to fire mine because he want performing as I expected. My new fleet manager seems to be one that is all about making his drivers happy with money based loads. Our in the very least getting the best paying load for you as much as possible.

Pay by the mile starts at 42cpm with less than a year and caps out at 48cpm.i know for a fact my percentage pay, is paying me higher pay mile than u would get on a milage pay scale

    Gunner,

Thanks for sharing your experience with TMC. I'm a new trucking student and Navy veteran who is seriously considering TMC. I've spent about 2 hours reviewing your posts. It looks like you've had quite the adventure so far. Your posts to this thread were an informative and interesting read.

I was wondering if you'd mind taking a look at my reply to another post titled "tips for TMC prospects" and see if you can offer any insight based on your experience with the company? I would have posted my questions here, but I didn't want to hijack your thread.

I think the following link will take you straight to my reply.

There are several dedicated accounts in Texas, and a lot of our drivers are based out of Texas. Dedicated you can get on after several months experience. But from what ive seen live haul is where the money is
