A little advice. You need to find out who you are going to lease on to BEFORE you buy a truck. They may have some specs they require.
Best not to get the cart before the horse as the saying goes.

I strongly advise you to have your ducks in a row 'before' you sign a loan to buy a truck.

Have a business plan, then have a back up business plan.

Please dont think I am trying to discourage you. Far from it. I just feel that jumping head first is not always the smartest plan. There is much more to it then simply purchasing a truck. I beg you to know for a fact how and where you will earn the money to not only pay for your truck and the costs associated with owning it, but to maintain it and then have enough left over to survive.

I wish you the best of luck.

Hi HardRunner, I'm confused. 1st you say you are buying a "new" truck, then go on to tell us you are looking at a truck with 3/4 of a million miles and plan to do all kinds of updates, and like Hurst says, with no real plan. And again, like Hurst says, we aren't here to rip on you, but to help you, and this whole thing just doesn't sound good. 1st, lending institutions will hand out the money to someone with good credit, like soup at the rescue mission. They don't care if you fail down the line, they just want their money back. 2nd, there are SO many trucks out there, get the one you want and need RIGHT OFF THE BAT, and start making money. I've heard nothing but nightmares of people trying to update trucks, and the thing is sitting for weeks, and that payment keeps coming in, and these banks have no sense of humor, you miss a payment, and they'll begin the process to take it back. Remember, a truck with that many miles, is going to have issues you probably never even thought of, that's why the previous owner got rid of it. I wish you the best of luck, but again, get the truck you need, and start trucking.

Vehicle buying law. No matter what kind of great deal you think you got. You'll see a better one the next day advertised somewhere else. The correct way is to buy the truck spec the way you want. Know what kind of work and hauling your going to do the majority of the time. For example it makes no sense to get hill pulling gears if 90% of the time if your pulling it across the Midwest. Also stay within the horsepower you need. Don't over spec the truck if you don't have too. Its too easy to dream and get your dream truck and in the end its not the correct truck to do the job. More gears, low rears, more horsepower are all going to rob you of fuel economy. Just a 1% increase in fuel economy is a good chunk of money in a year you'll save. The job of the truck is to make you money. Just remember the only person who is impressed by your truck is you. The only race or hill you have to be the first too is the income incline.
