^^^^ now that's a great idea!! I bet the light is incredible!

I have also heard that you can set the computer to keep low beams on with high through the software, is that true? If so, the low beams could be HID with a less expensive projector and kit. I still think $500 is pretty steep for the HHRV setup

You cannot program the lows to stay on with the highs. You can disable the voltage monitoring and put in a diode harness but would risk burning out your lcm in the process.

What Nathan did is a good option. I emailed hhrvlighting.com and suggested he should be offering the kits with the led bulbs still. The problem is he has to find the balance between making a plug and play kit that is reasonably priced and doing it rights.

I am assuming the led bulb he used was just a low voltage led bulb which probably dosent put out much light at all, most of the light he sees is gonna be from the hid kit. I disabled all low voltage monitoring from mine and did the same thing as he did but I built a custom relay harness for my high beams as I have a set of piaa 50w led high beams which help out alot. I have normal led $10 bulbs in my fogs and drives and they are pretty much useless.

not sure what the wattage is but i can check. as for light output i bought led bulbs that have a projector in the front so it puts out some nice light. not these ones exactly but similar. cost me roughly 80 bucks. yea the 500 is a bit steep but once i installed them i immediately thought it was worth every penny.best part is they light up maybe 25 feet into the ditches on either side so if there is a deer or whatnot i see it in lots of time and clear as day.

Sounds like I just need to plop down the $500 and get the HHRV setup, my lights are just horrible and it would be a massive improvement

Ya do it ,I did and cried a bit ,but its better then trying a dozen cheap 'rigs' and weeping a river not getting satisfaction.
"do right and do it once" -my dad.

I have not had a single regret

Well I finally ordered the kit from Dave.
Let me say; the lighting is incredible now and Dave's customer service is absolutely outstanding.
    Well worth the $500 !!

    What was he driving?

Hid are not illegal. What's illegal is hid in a non hid housing.

He was driving Volvo with HID retrofitted in Chicago area. I'm not sure about brand. Probably it was too blue. Actually what is not certified by DOT is illegal.
BTW. My CB radio pickups lot of noises due to some problems with antenna and so many Volvo trucks (but not all) with retrofitted lights radio noisy. So far only one Kenworth have same noise. Definitely it's a bad electrical components.
