OP: you can be fired for any reason or no reason, as long as the reason is not illegal.
You can look at it this way. Did tbe dot officers ask you any questions or ask for your cooperation in any kind of investigation regarding the safe operation of this motor vehicle ? The employers motive sounds like a load of pretext and participating in a dot scalehouse inspection should be a protected activity. Try to get something to prove your termination was directly related to the scalehouse incident; get it in writing.
Did you complain about discrimination or unsafe equipment in the weeks prior to your termination? If so, would you have any proof of this ? This is important. Let me know.
you need to build your case now. Send the former employer a certified letter asking for your personnel file ; send that letter with delivery confirmation requested.Shaggy Thanks this. -
Look out for #1 is the priority. Not helping others in the present time.Montgomery and Bones2663 Thank this. -
Isn't Texas an at will state ?....... I'm pretty sure they can fire you for no reason at all.
Your better off without them..... -
You may want to line up a good law firm as well. Don't try to fight this alone. And if they try messing with your DAC, then the glove has been thrown down. I'd certainly go after them with all I'm worth.
Bottom dwelling scum sucker companies like this need to be exposed. But your main purpose right now is to get employed by a reputable company and get the cash flow moving in as soon as possible.
Don't obsess or let righteous retribution take control of your thoughts. You need to get that driving position in hand. Look on here at what others are saying about the good companies. Make a list and work it. I mean work it hard! And then when it's right for you to share that company that gave YOU the shaft, you'll be able to give THEM the shaft.
We're with you so don't lose hope. -
Guess I'll keep my thoughts to myself for now.

Okay , I'm going to go out and say it. You probably have a retaliation claim of you made any statements to the dot officer. If there was a violation of their equipment that dot caught and you couldn't have prevented it by doing your basic pretrip; and you cooperated with DOT , you were wrongfully terminated for participating in an investigation of workace safety. Immediately file a whistleblower complaint with federal OSHA and tell them the facts. They see this all the time and will protect your rights.
drvrtech77 and Montgomery Thank this. -
I know all this because I'm filing a lawsuit for the same kind of thing. Look into the OSHA 11c statute
