Well 'tis been an interesting week. "Learning curve" shall we say...I had at least a 33.3% screw-up, & I can't/won't/shouldn't go into the particulars...but me learned important lesson on security..LOL..(not really LOL).
Saw the most amazing place outside of Joplin Mo. UNDERGROUND COLD STORAGE..???WTF? Really cool tho', bunch of tunnels in an old Limestone mine...w/over 100 docks INSIDE...heck, I thought I was going inside NORAD @ Cheyenne Mountain! Trippy at least.
Off to Milwaukee, turn right @ the beautiful old Harley-Davidson building...unload, & run to some Podunk WI berg for cheez....down to Des Moines basically, then to REALLY Podunk place for Hams....buckets 'O hams....for El Paso.
Kinda liking this "see where it all comes from & get paid for it" lifestyle.
Small disclaimer; It seems true that dispatchers do NOT know there are only 24-hours in a day....and trucks cannot run @ warp-speed. Hmmmmm...???
YeeHaa.

Have been on the road myself and no computer, lost touch for awile, Was going to ask if it was Palermo's that you were going to, Did you have along wait there? It seems that was the norm....
-
Palermo's was the BOMB....I didn't even get back into the cab, & they were unloading. About the time Confuser/Qualdumb had it's arrival...I's pulling out. No worries on that one me boy.
Dumb places?
1.) Holland Cold; B/F IA. Two places..one of which is NOT on the I-net. 2+ hours cruising.
2.) Farmland; Milan MO. Why there???
It's refreshing to see that some parts of the US are doing production /mfg / keeping the locals working...but I wonder how much fuel is wasted running 100+ miles away from any interstate?
Then again...I'm just a dumb truck-driver. By choice...have been in upper to top management - owner positions......this is mo' bettah, w/o a doubt. Seeing cool parts of our great country.
More to come ya'll. Yeah next stop El PAso. Hopefully some decent Mexican food before Ros/ABQ. -
Wow, not bad at all, although I have not been there for about three years now, I did service them for around 11 years almost on a daily basis even before they built the new place that you went to, they must have changed something as every Leprino and Fortune truck that went in there sat a lot....
-
Last couple of weeks have been pretty good...sorta challenging. Hell...learning curve...dispatchers have NEVER been on the road ( Waaahh...). Killed dash A/C in WI....killed APU 2-days later in Mid-West heat wave on my assigned truck.. Folks...I was in Guam for 6+ years...the humidity in ALL Midwest states made the Pacific look like Phoenix in August! Traded out busted tractor for a brand-new Cascadia w/53K on it. Ehhh..okay, good power, made it from WI to TX before it threw a code on the DEF system. Jeez really??? 53-thousand miles? Delivered at, & went to F/Liner guys in San Angelo TX. They jumped on it ( thank YOU very much )..."computer-glitch" ) yeah...right. Okay. What happens @ 454K...??? DDA-15 has nice low-end torque...and is about the smoothest engine I've seen since my Jag XJ-6. Can't tell if it's idling sometimes. Really
More later.
So far great...will start training dispatcher next week. -
Anyone know if they hire out of upstate ny? I noticed some mention of leprino, and there's one of those plants near where I live. I used to haul out of that place back when I worked for schugel....

Been off for a bit...driving I suppose. Having a good time, running Wisconson, Kansas, Iowa etc. Down thru El Paso, etc on the way back to Abq & Roswell. An occasional Colorado for good measure. Being a full time R.V. person chasing construction gigs has helped me to adapt to sleeper life.. Smaller than the motorhome...ahhh less to clean! No worries on the bookkeeping end, & just do what you can as far as realistic delivery / load times. It would be nice to think maybe shippers / consignees might treat appointments as something for BOTH sides....but I can only dream I 'spose.
I am amazed at the lack of consideration some drivers show @ truck stops. No need to speed...turn your headlights off when backing & such at nite.....last night this "trucker" turned on his head lights to help me back in next to him. Class started upon conclusion of my parking efforts. Oh...throw yer ###### trash away in a can, piggies.
I know...whaa, whaa...roll on kiddos -
Welcome to the newbreed side of things, looks like your running a good area, keep it going......
-
