But aren't you just a little lonely and missing having a trainee on the truck?![]()
I'm guessing living in NC a while has worn off on you. BBQ isn't normally a delicacy northerners enjoy, is it? I love eating bbq occasionally, but living in VA for several years alterred my taste from vinegar base to sweet bbq sauce.
George is at Grand Rapids, Michigan for part of the night. He had a crack across the windshield mostly on the passenger side, but it was beginning to spread. Since his next load is near Kalamazoo, MI and was scheduled for 1 or 1:30 am, he took his truck to a shop to get the windshield fixed and had a very low key day. He's doing a 8/2 split sleeper shift, heading out about 2 a.m. and figures a swap may take place since he will be late for the pickup. Load is going to Baltimore, MD area due Thursday, I believe....such a great place, huh?![]()

In the "Big D" headed to the best western. The flight wasn't to bad. Waited an 1hr and a half for another driver on a different flight and I'm starving!
HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
Wishing you good luck as you begin your career, travis! Now repeat after me .....I will not lease .....I will not lease ...No matter what they say or how many shiny objects they show me, I will not lease!
I have heard of a couple of new drivers being told that there were no company trucks available ....to either lease or have to wait. Don't fall for it! They told the King the same thing 5 years ago but we had been warned. He stayed company ....and it was hard to watch all of the other drivers leave in their lease trucks while the ones that were going company were still at the hotel. He had a nice weekend at the hotel, (with me), and had his truck by Monday. It is another ploy to pressure you into a lease.....they have plenty of trucks....people are turning them in every day. You may be sent out to recover an abandoned truck .....but you will get a company truck.bigred81, .honeybadger., truckertravis84 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Good luck Travis. Stay strong on being company, its hard when you guys are buzzing about the lease. It will seem like that is all anyone is talking about. Just remember you want to see your family.
Jungho I am not lonely at all. Enjoying my solo time and this BBQ place uses wood in the grill so I am not used to that. There is a place in Olathe that does the same and they are really good also.
Can't wait to leave Fl. so hot here. Guess I shouldn't complain, I could be on icetruckertravis84, SRQGhost and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
I tried again just to see if I could get those words out of my mouth Pete, it still feels as if I have a mouth full of peanut butter.
-
Had the same thing happen...wife was doing cart wheels when she told me my check was 3600 for the week...I laughed...
-
With the way it looked in Olathe, they were actually running short on lease trucks!! The newbies were pouncing on drivers turning in trucks asking them which was there's and asking about it to request it. X___X
A couple of dreams may have been shattered at the bus station yesterday when they overheard me BSing with a guy I know who also turned in his truck yesterday.crazy driver 72, wulfman75 and bigred81 Thank this. -
Yeah but for the couple of dreams that were shattered, there's 10 that think otherwise and see the 3 dollar bills flying around
-
From my understanding about lease its more like seeing the 3 nickles floating around their heads.crazy driver 72 Thanks this.
-
That was a good one...lol
