My employer is filled with ex and current military personnel. There ARE actually 2 ex-seals that drive for my employer, and they are some of the coolest and funniest guys I met.

You forgot to mention that the DOT cop was either killed or severely injured when those balls came flying out of there!:biggrin_2559:

I don't know. It seems like the drivers that have something worth listening to aren't the ones talking.

proper trip planning? what is that? i hear that from eloggers all day, you cannot plan a day, too many variables

the problem is that we are being forced to conform to rigid rules that dont apply

i cannot remember the last time i ever "trip-planned"

i know its 1000 miles, i know i have to be there tomorrow some time, i will drive today till i get tired and drive the rest of the way tomorrow

what else is there to do?

if you are leaving Richmond VA at 1500 heading north,, you know you will sit in traffic in DC and Baltimore, so leave Richmond at 1800 (there, thats my trip plan)

o, one more tidbit of trip planning, get to the shipper as early as you can, get to the reciever as early as you can, many time that pays off (sometimes it doesnt, of course)

They crossed a scale and for whatever reason, the DOT man wanted to look in their trailer and when the trailer door was opened, of course, all the ping pong balls flowed out of the opening. :biggrin_2559: Saw it happen a few times with bulk loaded carrots as well as with watermelon with trailer parked on a ramp and guy who ordered them could not wait to see what he bought opened the doors against the drivers advise

I was at a grocery warehouse one time, and when I opened thru trailer doors, noticed that the rear pallet was pretty unstable due to lower boxes in stack having collapsed. There were no load locks on this preloaded trailer. Thought I could get it into the dock without a problem, if I was gentle when kissing the dock. As I'm backing up some jerkweed runs right behind the trailer, and I hit my brakes to keep from running over him.

Needles to say there were a few cases of Kellogg Corn Flakes dumped on the driveway. And he had the nerve to come up to my driver's door screaming at me! I just told him he had best be gone when I got there, went out the passenger side door, and watched his silly arse running away...

I can see the headlines now - IDIOT KILLED AT KING SUPERS WAREHOUSE WHEN ATTACKED BY FLYING CORN FLAKES!:biggrin_25523:

Reminds me of the rookie with the new CB radio at the truckstop years ago..
he thought he knew all of the 10codes..
    ya know
    10-4(affirmative)
    10-20(Location)

he keyed up his mic and asked for a 10-33?
    I said "where yo at?
He replied and I realized he was nosed in right behind me..so I just backed up and took out his front grill and drove off..
when he went to hollering I told him "there is your 10-33(accident)

he said he was only asking for the local time(10-36)and had made a mistake..I said "oh.sorry"..You asked for a 10-33?..There ya go..Drove off..

So yeah,i would say if a seasoned truck driver said to leave because the traffic would soon be messed up,i would leave(ahead of him)LoL
