Service done. I'll say this for Gordon, they don't mess around with maintenance. PM was done, very thorough. Signed out the shop car (one or two at most of the yards), grabbed lunch. The Hot Chick changed her mind about a shower so waiting on her to finish (got mine early). Gonna invest in a tractor wash since I can't seem to get to a Heartland yard when their wash lane is open. Then fuel, grab preloaded trailer, get to Carlisle PA by tomorrow night (750mi) with a stop at Indy yard for IFTA stickers and permit book update.

This will be the second time in a month that I've been outside the Columbus/Kalamazoo/Milwaukee triangle.

It's sunny and short sleeve weather outside in Pontoon Beach. Feels weird. Nice but weird. It's good to get a short break from all that winter mess.

Thinking I'm going to notify the company about my move a week before home time, maybe less. It's been my experience that the two week's notice thing doesn't work out well for the driver these days. Probably tell them Monday (due home on a Friday).

    More updates as events warrant.

I will say this, when I left Gordon they were more than helpful in getting me home. They sent me back to Rancho and then gave me a load to SLC that I could drop in the Las Vegas Yard. I was able to clean out my truck and secure it there and not have to return it to Rancho and have to rent a car to bring my stuff home with. No complaints. I am surprised that no one called me to find out why I left, but that is business I guess.

Most companies know why you left, problem is, they don't seem to care.

I'm surprised you didn't get the phone call most of us seemed to get; even Vic did. Mine came a couple weeks later. I was asked for constructive criticism and if I would be interested in returning in the future.

Maybe things have changed there, too.

When CougFan gave Gordon notice, they routed him to terminal and had him clean out his truck then and there. So be advised.

I dropped mine off at Rancho, walked to bus stop and took bus to airport. Did not bother asking for anything from them. Had given 2 wks notice, Indy had no intention to route me back to California. Was ready to take it back to Lathrop (long story) from West Sacramento and take Enterprise from there.

Was not going to take another Safeway. When they realized I was drop-dead, keep-your-truck serious, routed me to Denver, then Grand Junction, where another driver and I switched in the middle of the night with permission from Pacific. Made it possible to visit with my then 92-year-old Mom... other driver got home near Pontoon, which he wanted and a PM done.

Indy was sorta tweaked. Agreed to have truck dropped at Rancho.

Not much else for them to do, really. Flew back to Indy.

    Happy my car started!

Soon, Captain Zoom, we will officially recognize you as one of us, an ex-GTI driver... Club ex-GTI. Over a thousand join up every year.

Taking my kindergarten nap at the Petro on the Ohio - Indiana border. About 480 or so miles to go. Trying to make up my mind whether to continue to Columbus tonight or just sleep here and run it out all day tomorrow. We'll see. Right now leaning toward sleeping here. Haven't done much today--could be because of the PM taking all morning. I could be sleeping in Columbus right now.

Heater took a very long time to start last night. Since the truck wouldn't idle I got very little sleep. I'm exhausted and I have 480 miles or so to cover today. Think I'm going to ask for a relay in Columbus and get the heater looked at. It finally did start but not for several hours after multiple attempts. I think the screen is fouled.
