Thinking about going over to Ashley. Trying to decide if it would be worth it. I haul furniture now. The company I'm with now is pretty laid back, but you work your butt off for every penny. I believe I can do better financially at Ashley. Maybe $20000 more a year.
I talked to a driver yesterday and he said LTL guys get day pay for anything under 300 something miles. Didn't have time to get the details. So can someone give me the details of it. How much is it? Is stop pay included with day pay or extra? How is stop pay broke down? How much is each stop, switch outs, live pick-ups, ect...?

I'll pull out my sheet and post up for you this evening once I'm stopped. I'm on truckload side but we have a pay breakdown sheet for LTL. It's a good gig those guys are the ones making the real money here although truckload doesn't do bad either. It's a good gig either side. Check back early evening

I was going by what the recruiter told me a couple months ago. She said ltl can make up to 74000. I bought home 45300. I consider myself a top performer. That was doing 20-30 stops 2500-3000 miles a week. Really the only reason I haven't went yet is because I'm comfortable where I'm at. I like that I know what I'm going to do every week and knowing I will be home every weekend. She said I would work five days and be off two, but two off could be during the week. I need weekends off, but for 90000 I would take any two days off. It doesn't sound believable though. I would be working out of Ecru and I see a lot of trucks there on the weekends. If knew I would be home on weekends I would have already been working there.

Don't know about Ecru. Some areas are Day Pay plus drops, some are mileage plus drops. In my case, we get paid for 381 miles per day in Day Pay, anything over that is paid at your current rate (.39 to .42+/- per mile). Drop pay is $115 to $215 per load on average. Most weeks I do 5 loads per week, working 5 1/2 days. $80K + on the LTL side is right on the mark. Some Ecru guys will go on "rotation" to Advance or Leesport and may be out for a 2 week period. I am home every weekend, sometimes during the week as well. Usually home Friday night but sometimes I may not get home until Saturday morning and most weeks leave Sunday afternoon/evening to drive to my first stop. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

househunter pretty much summed it up. was hoping one of the ltl guys would chime in. now I don't have to type out that pay scale lol

I'm out of advance. we do the leesport rotation. the one nobody wants to do. get a load up to leesport then run out of there out and back into the northeast for a week. then get a load home.

the distribution, dispatch and delivery model is based on a mon-fri operating schedule. the guys that are off during the week and run weekends are the exception. I did it for awhile coming out of orientation but quickly recapped a week onto the mon-fri schedule. running weekends doesn't fit well with their business model.

the 70-90k figure for ltl is accurate. when I was in orientation last year, the 2013 numbers the quoted us were that the laziest ltl guy did 68 and the top guy did 94. recruiting tends to under-sell it a little until you're there in orientation and they talk more real numbers. for truckload they quoted me 58-62 and i'll be at 65k first year.

we just had our driver's meeting in advance and the higher ups who came quoted a figure of 300 drivers needed by 2018 and that's just to cover growth, not retirements. it's a retirement company most people that come here stay and the profit sharing in addition to the 401k makes for a strong retention item. current turnover number is 14%. that says more about the company than anything.

there's an Ashley thread on here you can link up to it from my page or househunter's.......most of us posting there are truckload but there are some ltl guys lurking about too if you want to get the day to day or throw out some specific question to the ltl group

tough to get in but worth it to be here. next year or 2 is definitely going to be the time to get in.

    Shaggy Thanks this.
