Has anyone had issues with having the Temp CDL that you get while at Prime training in MO transferred or accepted once back in your home state ???

While talking with the DMV rep earlier today she stated that WV does not accept out of state Temp CDL License and that I will need an actual CDL and both my med card and long form along with all the new fed required documents. She also says it is against WV State Law to hold a WV license and out of state CDL permit or actual license which could lead to my WV license being suspended.

Anyone have any input ? The recruiter says he is unaware of anything about WV - I do not want to end up with issues once I leave for training.

You wouldn't have to transfer permit back over to wv. Prime only makes you transfer the permit to Missouri if its from out of state. After you get your cdl that's when you will transfer it to wv. Hope that helps you some

Exactly, I am talking about the actual CDL not the permit - I was told that prime (while in MO) issues a Temp CDL that some states are not accepting. There was a guy I know of in Pa who had the same issue a few weeks ago.

I guess adding the info about trying to get my permit first, like a lot of u suggested, kinda made my post a little confusing lol. Sorry about that.

I believe it is because you have to surrender the actual CDL when you transfer it from one state to another. It is illegal to hold a CDL in multiple states and they won't issue you one until the other one can be taken and destroyed.

I'm trying to understand what you mean by temporary CDL.

If if you don't have your Missouri hard copy of the CDL, you can't transfer until you do.

The paper copy (temporary) issued until the state can produce a hard copy (permanent) license.

you will get a temporary paper cdl when you pass your test within 30 days you will go back to springfield and pick up the hard copy. that's when you can go to WV and get yours. it was fun when my temporary cdl was about to expire and I had to go get my hard copy in springfield
