Everything in moderation. I wouldn't suggest to you to drink Diet beverages though. Some of the artificial flavors do more harm (later down the line) than the regular sodas do.

Coffee is good - even with some creamer if you have to. I sometimes will put flavored creamer in a cup of coffee. One cup's worth is about 10 calories. You could drink a lot of coffee before you'd ever reach the amount of calories in a soda.

In terms of food, here's what I TRY to do: I try to eat things that mother nature provides. If it comes in a box, a can, or a bag, I don't want it. On the same token I try to stick with the 80-20 rule. At least 80 percent of the food I consume is healthy and maybe 20 percent is not.

Another thing I've found is that as long as you eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner as healthy as you can, then maybe for a snack or dessert you may treat yourself.

Like I said, this is what I TRY to do. Some days are better than others. Hope this helps.

I used to drink sodas but went off of them when I started getting bad kidney pain from them. I switched to unsweetened teas and more plain water. Now I mainly drink plain water. You don't need flavorings. You are probably only drinking to support caffeine and sugar addiction. Cut your sodas down to 3x/day and then down to 1x/day and then none. Going cold turkey from a 6 pack per day will probably give you a headache and make you tired for few days.

When I was growing up in rural West Virginia, if you were fortunate enough to catch a possum in sack then you had yourself Sunday dinner, Mother Nature approved. :biggrin_25523:

Just sayin'. Country rooooaaaads, take me hoooooome...

I'm only 20 years old but I know several people my age who will down 3, 4, even 5 monsters a day. Some guys buy their soda by the 2-liter and just drink whole bottles. Sometimes two a day, usually while raiding or playing c.o.d. My best friend used to work at a gas station and one dude would come in three times a day to fill a 72oz cup with Pepsi. Each time he came it was empty :biggrin_25524:

I managed to "quit" cold about 1 year ago after having about three a day. The headaches are awful, and every time you see a can or bottle it looks like a golden egg. But after a week or so the headaches and cravings go away. Now I mainly drink bottled water with either crystal light or kool-aide lemonade flavoring, whichever I happen to find or sometimes just plain. I also throw in a few Gatorades, but try to limit those. I've never drank any type of energy drink. Monster tastes like liquid horror to me...

Also, don't tell anyone but I still treat myself to one soda a week :biggrin_25525:

(Which is why I can't really say i've "quit")

I know what mean about the soda. I'm a mild caffeine addict myself and love that extra huge Mtn Dew over ice from the fountain machine with my taco bell for lunch. Part of the problem is that I lean on it to keep me sharp and awake around that 3-4 pm blah time when the Taco Bell is wreaking havoc. If I was better about actually getting 8 hours of sleep every night it would probably be less of an issue, but sometimes I'm running on fumes and that caffeine and sugar rush is like a warm embrace lol. I know that stuff is liquid death though :)

thats kinda like me with the smoking...I largely don't anymore but will still bum one here and there from the roomate when I'm home. I know it's largely an out of sight out of mind thing and act accordingly.

I don't keep sodas in my house. If I happen to want one I'll go to a gas station and buy a fountain drink which I don't do too often.

The only time I waiver is if my Dad comes to town. He likes his Dr. Peppers!

Edit: I agree with the energy drinks. Those things are TERRIBLE and probably like poison to the body!
