Day 5: We learned how to do a pre trip inspection. I think the per trip is going to be something I will have to work on. We spent about an hour doing a pre trip.
we took a field trip to a lot at Millers/Coors. We were on a lot that Millis owns and we learned what we should do when we get our load, how to strap it down, where the paperwork is, and we also learned how to do a bulkhead. Our instructor opened up a number of trailers and we seen what the loads look like, and what to look for to make sure the load were loaded safe and are safe to accept.
After the field trip, we came back to the terminal and we split up in two groups. Some of us worked on drop and hook, and the other group worked on straight line backing. I'll have to work on my drop and hook, but I feel like I did well on my straight line backing. We did that for the rest of the day, but we took turns to drive the tractor trailer around the yard. That was really cool. Practiced my downshifting and I deal well with my double clutching.
This weekend, a couple of us are going to go work on our pre trip, because we need all the work we can get. I really enjoy the people in my class. Everyone is trying hard to be great drivers and everyone is helping everyone. -
Gemini, is your class taking a trip to BRF?
