My uncle passed away a few months ago and his final resting place is going to be in Arlington national cemetery first part of April. I am planning a trip there for services. Seems how nether myself or the misses have ever been to dc. we are planning a few days to see the museums and other sites in dc while we are there. we will be flying and staying 4 nights. looking at a few options we can stay within walking distance of most of the things we want to see while we are there at a large premium in hotel cost. or i can get a hotel in Arlington and save more than the cost of a rental car (pay for the rental plus save about a additional 300 on the entire trip).

my question is how much are the tolls in a 4 wheeler to travel back and forth from Arlington to dc traffic and travel times?

I know they have added toll lanes to parts of 495&66.....But as far as I know they r electronic collection only &do not Have to be used...so in short you shouldn't have to pay any....Also you might want to ck into public transit....parkng is at a premium in the district&they do have a pretty good system.....my only personal experience is pkg the truck in Alexandria &takin the Metro in for a ballgame & it was a breeze....njoy the trip and God Bless your Uncle for his service&Valor that earned him a spot in Arlington...

I would try to stay near a subway/train station. Driving in DC sucks. The Air & Space museum is awesome, so are the Smithsoneum museums. If you can steal the Hope diamond while you're there, we'll split the profits!

    I use kayak.com

ive stayed In DC a few times - you can get a four star hotel for 110 a night. Right now occupancy rates are low so you should be able to score a good deal

The traffic In Washington sucks , Arlington to d.c. is a easy drive only a few miles, the subway is really easy to use there and in April the weather will be pretty good for walking around to the different museums and whatnot pretty good. I live a couple hours away from d.c. I takey wife and kids up there every spring to the museums. It's a great time to play tourist around there. There aren't any tolls that you will encounter . The only tolls around d.c. are on the beltway. Which you probably won't even be on.

I agree with all of the above.....you DON'T want to drive in DC
the public transport is excellent (particularly in Arlington)
when you book your hotel, make sure they have a shuttle to and from the airport and you'll be set

take ya right in the middle. Honestly, DC's public transit is such, that if you lived there full time you wouldn't need a car.

There are also zip cars available if you need a car for a few hours. How will you be arriving into this area?
