Hi,
I'm about to get my CDL next week and was wondering if anyone here has any recommendations as far as getting a good job in Chicagoland.
I would prefer being on the road than local for starters... I don't want to end up in one of those places that want you to drive without getting any rest and being at home for more than a day is not an option....
Any recommendation?
Thanks
MJ

Check out Magnum....we are in Chicago all the time. -
Avoid all the 1099 Elk Grove Village companies. Most of them are crap. I heard pretty good things about JKC Trucking in Summit IL.

Roehl would be a good starting company for you. They have different options depending on where you live. You may be able to do 7 on, 7 off, or you could do 14 out, 3 off. Of course, you can stay out longer if you wish too. I used to be a trainer over there. They're not a bad outfit. I only left because I make more money now as a solo, with a smaller fleet and non forced dispatch. Roehl has a terminal in Gary, IN. If you're around the Chicago area, that's likely where they have you go for orientation.

Avoid the Commies at all costs.

JKC has 31 crashes in the last 24 months...4 fatal...wow.

Thank you all for your input..... I'm still trying to decide on what to do... Having family and kids I would need to find something that gives me at least weekends home or at least two days home a week to spend time with family.
Thanks again for your information.
