That's what the agent I called said, but I'm hoping somebody has an agent who can get something cheaper.
Progressive wants over $18,000 for 1 truck/dry van, with good credit and a clean CDL. I asked for $1M liability, I will change that to $750K, but it's still probably going to be too high.
Help!!!
Is Progressive the only company for a Florida startup?

If you expect to do business with most brokers and shippers you will need a minimum of $1 million auto liability and $100,000 cargo insurance. If you have a couple of years experience or more you may try Northland or Lancer. You need to find an agent who writes for several different insurance companies and let them shop your business. Without experience to truck insurance your options are somewhat limited.

No, that's without a radius restriction.
Yeah, that's why I asked for them to quote $1M, but the sticker shock was terrible.
Owner/Operator is an experienced driver, but it's a new company.
I will call a few more agents tomorrow for sure, but hoping to get a referral here.
Thanks guys! -
Try Northland.

Here is a list of agents for Northland in Florida. Try Swett & Crawford first.

i went threw progressive for my first year my first year was shy of 10k I'm guessing with a quote at nearly double that is there issues with tickets accidents or lack of experience?
-
There are no tickets, no accidents, excellent credit and 18 years driving experience.
I knew it was not going to be cheap for the first year, but never expected it to be this high.
I will try Northland today and see what happens. -
it was for 1m liability cargo insurance and comp. it was a few years ago now.
shop around, maybe it is something in location or something that inflates it so bad, If what you say is true you should surly be able to get a better quote somewhere. your first year is going to be the worst because you don't have a loss run. I was able to save quite a bit on my insurance after getting threw my first year. for me progressive was pretty easy to deal with getting truck insurance quotes can be a bit of a pia. sometimes it can take weeks to get a quote back from some companysGitana Thanks this. -
