TX for sure but must be an expand - 10' with minimum axle spacing of 5'
NM is a bit less clear - they state 46K but am not positive that they won't permit for more

If you do get one make sure it is not a flip 3rd axle as you will have to fight with the permit folks every time to be issued a permit as technically if the flip axle uses shims they are not allowed - see the Caltrans website to find the document that talks about flip axles . A fixed 3 axle that is 48' and has enough neck to use with a 4 axle tractor is going to be a very odd trailer. I need all 13' of neck on my trailer to get any weight on my steer axle with the lift axle down and the I can only get maybe 16k.

Thanks Rontonio I will stick with a fixed 3 axle if I do end up going that route.
So if I will be having a hard time getting weight on the steer would it be better to run a tridem lowboy with a tri-axle tractor?
From my research it looks like the 48ft trailers have 10ft or 11 foot necks -
You will not get the weight you are looking for in CA. As a 6 axle 1-2-3
Best you can do is 20+46+60 for 126 and you are going to be 45-50 empty. If you go to a 20k axle state you will not be allowed 46 only 40
Don't know where you plan to run - just in CA or 48 states -
I will be only running in CA

Get a 16 tire cozad or Murray and you will get your weight easily and run a 3 axle tractor - then you can always add a jeep. See truck dad's 7 axle pictures
Stroked F550 Thanks this. -
just so I am more versatile would you recommend getting a tractor with 4 axles and I can use the pusher when the load determines it necessary?
-
Not on CA I would not.

as mentioned in an earlier thread, the newer machines are getting heavier, not sure if the 37Gs will scale on an 8 tire dolly. Cozad builds a good trailer too. -
thanks Rontonio and truckdad for your input, sharing your knowledge has been invaluable
The professional and loadmaster seem like very versatile trailers
