I have 2 guys leased on to me.we pull dry vans.
I get 25% of each truck`s gross after fuel surcharge.
They get all fuel surcharge, detention, layover, truck ordered not used, and any "on time bonus" etc.
I furnish the trailers and trailer repairs, com checks for lumpers, dispatch.I also furnish a
fuel card where we get cash price for fuel.Say,if they gross, after fuel surcharges,8000 a week,I get 2000
I figure and pay qtrly fuel taxes and they reimburse me their share.
My trailers costs me about 2000 a month.A load board 35.00 monthly and trucking software 45 monthly.
    Some loads I factor,some I don`t.

They are making the company money.
The main problem is the points against my CSA scores when they get caught screwing up and get a few warnings or tickets.
Letting someone lease on with you is a risk taking thing. All responsibility falls back on me for violations and accidents.
25% is low for all that

I would never go below 25 % even if they had their own trailer. If ain`t worth it.I`ve
got a couple of good guys.I plan on keeping them as long as I can.I would like a couple more like them.
If I found them,I would consider 25%,but I might want 30...it depends on them and how they work

I agree with you but at the same time 25% is a LOT off loadboard stuff.

I agree, I'm considering doing this, but want to make sure that I can get the revenue up enough so that all make decent money. I'd prefer to have something steady to offer someone and am working on that. I'm thinking more like 80-85%....but would be flexible depending on whether they had their own trailer; whether they might prefer a higher % and share some of the insurance cost, it all can be worked out to everyone's satisfaction.

I do some load board stuff, but not all
in the late spring, summer and early fall,we sometimes do over 1000 gross a day per truck.People call us before the loads hit a load board.
we had 250 mile runs for 1000 and we deadhead back asap and get another.we did that for months on end.We did live load on the loading end and drop and hook on the unloading end at a Wal Mart. That was a very good deal.
One guy worked every Saturday and sometimes Sunday. He did pretty good.
I tried 15% for one guy once, and it wasn`t worth the work I had to put in.
But to be fair, sometimes I give the guys a little extra for something like deadheading etc

you can always start off at 25 and lower it if you think the guys ain`t making enough

    osumike33 Thanks this.

Is that 2k/month including insurance? Or just rent/monthly payment?
