Use your best judgement. You can be a couple inches over height or a few inches wider than your permit. I personally would rather buy extra over width permits (if it doesn't cause me to need a pilot car). Or split the difference and hammer down.

This thread is a gold mine of bad information..........
-
Perhaps. But at least it is FREE!

Was about to post the exact same thing.......14' high is legal in most states for example. Thats a gem of which I will have to remember
And worth exactly what the OP paid for it! Money back guarantee and all....

OP, I go by the tread on the tire myself. If the tread is on the trailer, but the sidewall bulge is over a little, normally I wont stress it. Pulling an RGN though, if that is the case my binders/chain hooks normally stick out further so it is less noticeable for me. Going inside the rub rail though is a different matter.
I certainly wouldn't go too far over as permits are pretty cheap, especially when comparing them to fines etc. And no, if you get busted, I wont be paying your ticket, so buyer beware!

Fixed it for you.

That does not equal "most" states

Just the ones that count,,,, CA excluded
