I need advice on why water temp gauge and oil temp gauge on 2000 Detroit in 2000 Pete 379 are both stuck at 150 degrees. I can remove all wires from gauge and temp needle does not return to 100 degrees. Thank you for any advice. Zircon

When some gauges are not working they return to their neutral position which I'm guessing is 150 in your case.
I use to fly a 1962 Piper Cherokee. Both tanks were reading 1/2 full. I ran out of fuel in flight. I was at 9,000 feet and a small airport was close by so it was not a problem. When the gauges were checked out the ground wire had fallen off so they returned to their neutral position and showed 1/2 full. -
Iam no pilot but been around planes and heard more than once you don't go by a gauge-you manually check before flight.

Lol....Yup. I actually did check but only one wing. My fuel selector was on the other wing and that's the one the ground fell off. I did go through the emergency procedure and pulled carb heat, switched tanks, established max glide and looked for a place to land. The engine did fire back up but I was too wigged out and landed. Mechanic found the problem in 5 minutes. Same procedure used to test a trucks fuel tank sensor.
