So far, so good. I heard from my hubby today and he said their "free bfast and lunch" aren't really free. They give you a $7.00 discount for lunch from the cafeteria that conway has and his bfast, he had to pay full boat at the hotel. Other than that, day 1 has been ok. Apparently, there were 3 men that walked out when it got to the hair follicle test. Lol. It baffles me why they would waste the time and effort, knowing that they are going to be drug tested when they get there. Lol.

When I was in trucking school many years ago there were two ladies who were getting a CDL so they could drive with their husbands and have two log books, basically allowing them to go as many miles as needed thus opening more opportunities and money for sight seeing and the occasional hotel stay. Both of the husbands were O/O (not lease drivers) with pretty nice rigs and I suppose that also opened up better options for load choices. Some companies treat O/O's better and some allow them to pick their own loads on an internet site.

All of the extras cost money and weight, so you have to choose carefully to make sure you're in the ballpark for hauling the best loads. I believe APU's add about 800 pounds...different trailers and wheels can make a big difference.

Just some things to consider if you're going all in.

I've heard Conway is a good company........they pull a lot of doubles.

thought the hotel provided free continental breakfast and crowder supplied free lunch at the school and free kfc for dinner?

Update on my hubby. He has done 2200 miles so far in his first week with a trainer. They got into some bad weather and had to bunker down for over 24 hours in Wyoming due to 50 mph winds. His trainer is AWESOME and he would have hand picked him if he could have. In the middle of all this, my hubs had gotten really sick and ended up in the ER last night with a major sinus infection and double ear infection. His trainer was the one that insisted he go (since my hubs just doesn't like dr's) and they were out of he ER in an hour's time with scripts for antibiotics.
He really is enjoying this time and I think the hardest part is just not being able to pick up the phone and tak to each other whenever we want. It's been 2 months now since we have seen each other and we are ready to be done with the training part so we can go on the road together.
Oh, also wanted to brag just a bit...he backed into the loading dock for the first time perfectly without having to remanouver. Yeah hubs!!!
I really appreciate all of the people on here that have given such good advice and personal stories.

    motorheads5 and 123456 Thank this.

I am not quite sure what the recruiters are telling their prospective employees, but the hotel charges them full boat for bfast and they are given a $7.00 discount on their lunch. Dinner is on them.
So far that is the only thing that wasn't as he was told pre hire.

Thanks for the update. You will be on the road together before you know it. It will be a lot of work, but there are good times ahead for your team.
