    Hi all....
I've decided to delay my CDL school until the fall. I wanted to do more research on the schools around here (San Antonio, TX). I've narrowed it down to three...
    Roadmasters
    Sage (St. Phillips College)
    International Schools (Austin Community College)

Does anyone have any info on these schools? I want to make sure I get the best training and job offers I can get.

    Thanks,
    Mindy:biggrin_25511:

Heard good things about both Roadmaster and Sage. Do a search on this site for both and see what you find.

I attended a community college and would recommend that route although it was not Austin Community College. Community colleges typically take longer to get through, mine was 10 weeks.

Check to see which companies recruit from that campus. If you are not happy with any of those companies then you may not be happy with the school.

I attempted to go straight into LTL trucking right out of school but all of the LTL companies wanted experience so I ended up at Crete Carrier which was my last resort. They are difficult to get on with if you don't have experience and will not take drivers from just any community college. If you contact Crete and they hire from Austin Community College then it is a good school. It does not mean that you need to consider Crete Carrier but is a way to judge if the school is good to attend.

I just started working for a beer distribution company, you may want to check your local food & beverage distribution companies. I am working for $20hr as a warehouse worker currently and will get 100% free CDL training. Beats any offer I had on the table. Local too so I will be home every night & weekend.
