You need to have the SWR checked and the antenna probably needs to be retuned for the new setup.
mule Thanks this. -
Yup, stop at a CB shop and have them set the SWR for $10-15 bucks...
mule Thanks this. -
you didnt change the location of the antenna right? you use the same mount you were using?
-
yes i used the same mount and wiring i was before only think i did was put the used wilson 2000 on.i guess i may have to buy another whip for it and set the swr all over again.
-
no.... probably not, just because you check the SWR and its high doesnt mean that the antennas shot.... it just means you need to tune the antenna, i dont know anything about tuning that antenna but it probably lowers and raises some how... you may need to do that. or make sure the coax isnt pinched or isnt coiled, MAYBE you need to move the mount... their are so many reasons the swr could be high.
mule Thanks this. -
Take it to a shop, they can tell you what you need to do.

i had the same problem with my 29, bought a new 18' coax and new mount and this time mounted on the passenger side mirror bracket with great results. i routed the coax through the vent window, across the sun visor and stuff the rest behind the radio in the upper compartment on the freightliner century. the red light did come on recently again , but i found
that the wilson 5000 im using came loose causing poor connection which was a simple solution by installing a lock washer.mule Thanks this.
