Best 4x4's I ever got came out of a sawmill that made crane mats. Gave em to me too, many as I wanted.

  4. From broken or ripped straps, (2x4) 4' or 6'

4x4 x8'. Home depot. Unless ya get some extras left from a load your hauling.

A lot of times you can pass a house that is going up and they have a lot of scrap 2x4's that they toss out. I usually find and save them 1' or longer for home projects. Ask before you dig into their scrape pile though.

Maybe a flooring store, they install hardwood flooring and always toss the scraps... Most time they will have 10% of what is ordered as waste.

use 1 x 6 treated 8 foot long with 3/4 inch roofing nails to attach old $ inch straps cut into 12" long pieces , 3 per v board, store behind landing gear with a small rachet strap. 2x4 for v boards are to heavy. the set I got is 3 years old and still in great shape.

use y our imagination. and you come up with a variety of ideas.

some of our drivers have some 90 degree plastic they use, i have aluminum sheet metal that's already bent 90 degrees. not the best, light and flimsy, but it gets the job done. and they sit nicely inside with the fuel tank.

In a pinch I have seen other drivers use boards off a pallet
