That's why as a solo Company driver I prefer the GLR. I never ever sit running up there. At the very least there's always something coming out of Morris.
At the same time though I've never sat in the LA Basin either. Probably a matter of timing. There never seemed to be a shortage of beer, tires, noodles or soap products heading for the Upper Midwest or Texas border towns as I generally had one to leave that area.
Rattlebunny...I'd be making a pest of myself every hour or two to my terminal if I was sitting..they may not like it much but they won't forget you're there either...also a good reason to get to Platinum ranking to access Mac30. There's not always something there but at least you have a chance to keep checking. Its been a while but when I was in your situation I would stay in my truck, keep my phone next to me and keep my Qualcom powered up and ready to go so when a load was sent out (possibly to several trucks) you have a fighting chance to grab it within a few seconds.
A couple years ago I was in Phoenix, many drivers..few loads. I lost 3 loads offers by the time I walked from the lounge to my truck to respond. Realized that hanging out watching TV wasn't going to work and stayed in the truck ready to pounce and scored shortly thereafter. I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong..just throwing it out there. Hope you get rolling soon.

Petro in Dodge City, Alabama. I picked up at Home Depot in Monroe, Ohio and broke south. Once I hit I-65 in Louisville the flurries started, by the time I got to cave City it was full on snow until just north of Nashville.

Thanks all, I finally got one. I pounced on it just after it hit my cell phone sight unseen. Thought it was going to get me to Carlisle, PA but when the assignment came thru on the good ol' QC it's a preplanned tcall in Phoenix. At least it gets me to a different area and out of Califarabia, Komiefornia, Cali, or whatever you prefer to call the place. I have nothing against the ppl here, but to threaten me with a $500 ticket if I idle in Ontario in a fully compliant truck just seems foreign somehow. I'll be trying to leave Cali to the natives from here on out.
Some serious wind in the La La Land basin today. Be careful if you're loaded light like I will be this afternoon. Rockin and Rollin in the bunk something serious at the moment. Wheeeeeee!! -
Back in Sunbury, Oh and no pplan in the morning. Guess that my decision is made up for when back from vacation. Back OTR. They have a policy here that I do not agree with. Everyone is planned according to PTA, and that even includes surge drivers if they are here. I am assigned to the account and if my PTA is 2230 and a company surge driver is here with a PTA of 2200 and there is only 1 load, he gets it. Unlike Wal-mart. Surge drivers are last as far as getting a load. Those assigned to the account, they come first.
HousTank Thanks this. -
If I get a preplan text message and I'm away from my truck I immediately call my DM. If I like the load they can accept it for me. It's a good idea to call in that situation anyway, the information is so brief on the text it doesn't include t-calls for example. Nothing like falling all over yourself to get to the truck to accept a 3000 mile load only to find out it t-calls 50 miles away.

It probably has a lot to do with the person who is planning today. I have to babysit this particular planner and bug him constantly to make sure I don't sit.

Coming to you live from Albuquerque Terminal...
Just completed my fifth trip as a L/0 and called Los Lunas about possibly joining the Wal-Mart account. I ended up being placing on as a Surge Driver..I didnt quite understand what a Surge Driver is so does anyone know? Also, does that mean I change DM or what?
