Don't believe that for one minute. Abilene knows exactly where I was born and raised, but yet for the last 2 winters I have been in every inch of Wyoming delivering freight in every type of winter condition it can throw at me. Watch what you ask for, you might be out there in 50mph winds on snow/ice covered roads just trying to get to the PNW, just to chain up in order to get over Cabbage. Me's rather go to Hunts Point...just sayin.HometimeQueen and gntorres61 Thank this.

Oh boy, I'm at the Pilot in Albany, GA and the lit lizards and panhandlers and other creatures of the night are starting to come out!
HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
Yeah the snow can stay up north. Everyone down here doesn't know how to drive in the rain let along snow and ice. Don't need any more stress on Travistruckertravis84 Thanks this.

Training. ..there's no stinking training. ..lol.. I had a pretty good trainer when I first worked here..let me do everything back, treq, paperwork, unless we were running behind or it was a load that needed to be teamed

It will be nice when you can pick up Avett and have your co-pilot back on the truck!
George, JohnBoy and Pete are right......Hunts Point is safe once you are inside the gate. Knowing that you have a safe place for overnight parking means that you can pick and choose the best time to go in there. I have retired my TransAm notebooks so .....don't you have to pay cash for the gate fee? Be prepared just in case.
jaso, you touched on some of the main issues and problems that we have all had with the way TransAm handles and treats their drivers, lease and company. It is almost as if you are an indentured servant ....I used to think of it as an apprenticeship but when they don't care what kind of a trainer their new drivers have and everything has to be learned on your own, you are just a servant putting in time. There are good trainers there, the King was lucky with one of his, and I know that you have made a difference for the students you have had. They desperately need to learn from their good trainers and develop a standard for training. I hope the drivers that you have trained know how truly fortunate they are!
travis, I am glad that today was a better day for you!truckertravis84, gntorres61 and dennisroc Thank this. -
Abilene seems to be a very impressive company
all the way around
training is done in phases over i am not sure but months not days
they pay trainees a wage they can live on
of course they didn't want me so they are even smarter then you might think
i know some might think i am full of it also but i made $68000 last year company driver
drove the most miles of anyone and took off 5-7 days per month
oh and healthcare is paid for for wife and I so more like a $75000 job
I also believe myself to be only an average driver in knowledge and ability
so if you cant keep up the mirror is the place to startJohnBoy, jungHo, .honeybadger. and 2 others Thank this.
