Do you think schools should score and inform students about prospective carriers

There is also due diligence in disclosing any financial information that may/may not influence advice or recommendations on which company they choose to promote or allow to recruit. Its not that big of a hurdle to overcome its only a handful of companies they do promote. Greater transparency never has hurt the consumer. When you go to a school and then on to a pay back loan agreement you are the consumer. Your paying for a service on both ends. One in money and other is labor. I just don't understand the resistance to better informed drivers coming into the industry. What? Ya all scared they will actually succeed in greater numbers and threaten your jobs? A better trained, more informed, and prepared drivers will only make the industry better. Poorly trained, under informed new drivers are a hazard to you ever day on the road. They also drive down wages because they are not the best coming into the industry. The better trained, informed drivers make my life a hell of a lot easier on the road.

Once again I totally agree. I see better informed student becoming a class of student that will think allot harder before making these critical decisions. These student will not take crappy jobs and that means freight will be dispersed more so among better carriers and pay will increase.

Somewhere you have to start trying to change this crappy Industry, because this Industry is way over the barrel in what I call the Hitler effect.

Experienced drivers today are the problem to carriers, we know better and we know history and we know what we should be making according to both history and cost of living. Hitler( Carriers ) couldnt change the adults, ( Us )so he went after their children, ( Newbies )there he did away with their parents and formed his own ideas and made them others as well who didnt know any better. We are going to lose this Industry as far as drivers concerned if information is not provided at the entry level in some way about these carriers.

Whats the harm? I really dont understand it everyone.

What about an independent third party evaluation? Kinda like a carfax, but for carriers?

Sounds great to me. They report to DAC on us. Why cant they be held to the same rules as we are held to when it comes to our DAC's. They should be exposed and scored accordingly. Thats how they hire drivers. Why shouldnt we have something that covers carriers as well. Atleast youd know for sure who makes the want to drive for list and those to stay away from. Im all for it.:yes2557: Call it "Carrier Check"

The thing is, we CAN check a company's CSA score, by just going to the CSA website. Now as a student, one may not know how to read all the stats, but in general, the higher the numbers, the least likely one would want to work for such a company. Whatever, I still think that for a school to give a student all the facts and figures, to me spells, financial endorsements the companies provide to the schools to get students.(again, bribery because they are so bad, word of mouth will not get them in)

FMCSA already scores every authority holder. Use that to help make up your mind.Besides, a non-teuck company CDL school has one job...teach the student how to earn a CDL. Picking a starter company is so personal that grading companies would detract the student's attention from the task at hand.

The problem is ops that in far more cases than the info. is getting to student its not.
Oh well, I know now how to fix the Trucking Industry... GET OUT OF IT!

Carriers use our DAC to destroy drivers entire lives in some cases. And yea FMCSA is a good tool to look, if you know what your looking at and what for.

I ran across this and it seemed pretty interesting about some of the heat allot of carriers are going through with the public. I just really believe this info. should be shared to prospective students and students as well.

The problem is though it isnt shared in allot of cases and they dont know where to look at or what to look for and and how to even understand it when they find it when it comes to csa. Knowledge should be shared, no one knows everything from birth.

I found some real interesting articles on this, I hope I get this right. It does seem allot of carriers are crying about csa being public on them and they want their scores hidden from the public, when fixing the problems all they would have to do

    www.overdriveonline.com/house-introduces-bill-directing-fmcsa-to-fix-csa-remove-scores-from-public-view/

So pretty soon you may not even be able to view that. So just open up the shoots and drive those greenhorns in for the slaughter. lol

No, and for a few reasons,

    1) With most cases, schools are sponsored by carriers. For example, Roadmaster is sponsored by Werner.

    2) The only obligation a school has is to do what you pay it to do, which is to give you the required education you need to get your CDL. Job placement is your responsibility and yours alone.

    3) One mans trash is another mans treasure. Some people can't stand megas, others love them and can make them work. Some people can't stand unions, others love them and can make them work. Some people can't stand OTR, and some can't stand local work.

What works for you won't work for everyone else. I'm against this idea, because you can manipulate numbers to reflect anything you want. Let people get the exposure instead of cramming your opinion down their throat.
