Night Train, that's pretty much how my trainer sees it though he's not making the money you are. He makes decent money, in addition to what he gets paid when he's training. He's not logging those kind of miles though. He gets paid by the pull. The main thing for him is...it's about personal contentment, being home every night, and he enjoys training too. He freely admits he could go for the money but he likes being home every night for his family.
We drive in the city mostly and I'm really glad because this city driving has really helped me grow in being aware of everything as I drive all day. So much so...I haven't even learned PeopleNet yet. My trainer has rightfully focused on driving first.
Once my training is done I think I'll go with the "Division 9" if I can, because that division of drivers make the longer runs.

i carry a nut driver and a battery drill. rivets barely slow me down. have used super glue on lights that keep unplugging too, dont know how well they come off if they have to be unplugged on purpose.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or maybe its just common knowledge I just didn't know. Sometimes one of the front pins won't go in. I tried an experiment when one would not go in. I drove it forward briefly (like 3 mph) and jammed the brakes. It's worked 3 out of 3 times. Went in as easy as a porn star. Or will I be scolded for doing this as it may be wrong? And for the porn star thing.

You'd be surprised what would work.

Well I was beating a back pin over to get the container to drop with a hand sledge at 3am this morning too. I think you're the one who told me (and this thread) about sliding the tandems. That has also worked 3/3 times. I owe you a steak.Foots Thanks this.

Believe it or not, I've had two drivers tell me that sliding their tandems back actually helped with locking their front pins. The 53' chassis with the bigger front bolsters have trouble with the container not being down (or the chassis being up) far enough if its an older steel container like the reddish/orange Hub Groups or PACUs. Most of the time I have them drop their container and let me back up under each front corner one at a time with the hostler and lock the pins like that. Hopefully you won't have to deal with that.Kindle Thanks this.
