Where do I get local route work from

Do you have a flat rate fee that you will charge if it's within a 50 mile radius?
I want to start hitting up a couple of places when my MC go active.

 

You need to figure out your expenses and a daily minimum rate to cover them and make a profit. If you can only do one load a day, you will need it to pay your daily minimum rate. If you can do two loads a day and they are less than 50 mile radius maybe you charge $400 each for a total day rate of $800. Even if I picked something up and delivered it 2 blocks away, I wouldn't do it for less than $400, unless it was quick load/unload and there was enough of them to make $800 or more in an 8 hour shift. If you are using more than one trailer your rate needs to reflect the extra expenses, registration, maintenance fees.

 

If i were you id get a job with a local company in your area. So you can see how many loads you can handel a day. That way you know how much to charge per load to get atleast 7 or 8 hundred per day. 30 miles in LA could take one and half hours to drive. Not a flat rate more of a daily rate. Two loads can talk all of your 16hos. You get more than 14hos if your local. I wouldnt get a daycab. U may have to make longer trips when freight slows. Make sure you have some cash for emergencies wouldnt try it on a shoe lace. Maint cost are mot as bad because theres less ware on the truck. You can do power only drop and hook for less if there drop n hook. Get the truck and have at it youll find ur niche gotta try all the local options you will loose money till you get the hang of it far as what works for you
