The cynic in me would be worried about being used and abused (so to speak) for those 6 months as I will basically be indentured labor. However, if that is the way "starter" companies are going, just have to suck it up and get it done I guess.

The company just wants a return on their investment and you want the same.

Well, I'm cynical and a skeptic and always have been, but more so with age.
Sometimes it's a chore trying to distinguish truth from reality. During the Vietnam War on different occasions some Army guys told me they were close to the DMZ and killed a bunch of Chinese; maybe mercenaries. Sounded fishy to me, but what would I know, I was Navy mechanic. Much later, I asked a friend of mine who was a Army LRRP about this. He said,"That's BS those guys made that up." He spent most of his time North of the DMV and said if any Chinese were involved he would have spotted them during his 3 tours. Decades later, I married a Chinese woman from the mainland. He uncle lost a leg fighting the Americans in Vietnam; so you just never know; it's a wild world. She wanted me to meet him, but I declined. Off topic, but the concept is the same.

I saw a werner driver at the ta truck stop on i78 bloomsbury nj exit 5 nd i asked how much he make every week he was lying about 900 to 1000$ every week after taxes i knew he was lying nd i told him i used to work for werner nd he said well i run hard i just looked at him and smh

you WILL be used and abused

but thats going to happen with any company

look at it as hazing, plus you get to learn what dirtbags run this industry, so you hurry up and get your own truck in a few years
