help with double clutching

I am not in anyway disagreeing with you. But, my boss has instructed me to use the engine brake, along with the service brake to slow down as much as possible. He may be wrong, but its his truck.

 

The simple solution is to pause inbetween movements. sounds crazy but...just try it.

 

The service brake is the trailer brakes?.

Thats why I don't like anyone else pulling my trailers.

 

So then let me ask......what gets the shift done faster...DC or float?
If you are 100,000 lbs, climbing a steep hill are you clutching or floating?
If you're 125,000 gross loaded with grain coming out of a field are you clutching of floating?

Well, DC'ing gets the shift done faster.

I just had this amazing AH-HA moment. Thank YOU. Thank YOU. Thank YOU. You just flipped the switch for that light bulb in my head.

When I was learning to float, I would still DC when I wanted to get moving faster, like though and intersection. But the better I got at floating, the less I DC'd.

Thank you for helping me see that DC'ing is still very useful for the professional driver.

I am a bit in awe just how hard that wisdom of yours hit me.
