I will repeat this - you better log your hos because no matter what, the enforcement officer will put you oos because no matter what the opinions are, you are driving a commercial vehicle that is going to be used as a commercial vehicle even if you plan on making it into an rv.
Ifta, irp and all of that doesn't matter, have insurance, a temp tag and your purchase paper work plus a log book and you can drive it anywhere.BASARAB Thanks this. -
Here in Texas if you have insurance you can buy a temp tag and just get in and boogie. Did it just last month. I actually got a tow away trailer to make a little fuel money on the way home. Just dodged the scales and came on with it.

No I wasn't hauling, I picked up my truck bobtail and drive it 2000 miles back home. That's exactly what the OP is trying to do.
-
explain? What is a drive away company?
-
Always an option, but then you have the possibility of having the truck show up at your house only to find out the pictures the seller sent you were taken 15 years ago.
-
You pay a company with operating authority to drive the truck to you. They use their insurance, transport base plates, and DOT number.
You can request a quote on uship.com for driveaway service -
Lol....You can't do that either. I am a company with operating authority and I can't drive another truck with my plates or my insurance!!! You can't just take plate off one truck and put them on another. Holy mackerel

Ok, 6 pages and all I got is no one really know the the correct answer is. Can someone with real authority please answer the OPs question?
