When I pulled the relay out they still were on.

So when i push the brakes down few times they stay on. I noticed when my brakes are set and I push in the trailer brakes only, they go off and start working normal again. I then tried the same thing with the just the tractor button and they still stay on. Seems like I'm narrowing down where the problem can be. Any more tips?

off topic but this thread reminds me of way back when most all of the outlaws,me too,ran a switch thru the brake light switch to eliminate the brake lights coming on when we hit the brakes.what good was it? i have no idea upon reflection.could have been as simple as needing something to do when parked?

Have you try to do this with the trailer disconnected? This way you'll know that the problem is at the truck and not the trailer.

Start simple check the brake pedal its self dirt and floor mats can cause it not o come all the way up also check your Jonny bar make sure it is all the way up its easy to bump a little causing brake lights to stay on

The reason not having your brake lights operating was so if you where chased by the cops they couldn't see the brake lights when you where braking to make a turn, specialy at night. My friends and i use to do that with our motorcycles when we were young and crazy. -
Try running a ground wire straight from the battery ground to a lug on the front of the cab and see if they start working normal.
I recently went through a bad ground problem with mine and it did some very crazy electrical things!
I think the grounding on these trucks is pretty crappy.

Is the Johnson bar in the full OFF position? I had the brake light stay on in my truck a few days ago. Turns out I hit the bar inadvertently when getting out and the bar stuck on just enough to engage the switch and illuminate the brake lights.
