I will continue to answer questions in this thread based on my knowledge. There are individuals that are in this thread that are with tmc, im sure they would be willing to correct me if im wrong.

I will not be making a thread about my pgt experience due to the account in going to is a dedicated account for a long time client. The drivers on this account and their equipment isn't the same as line haul drivers because the trucks are specd different and pulling a Conestoga vs a standard flatbed like most pgt trucks. Pgt also has several other options for driving in looking at such as heavy haul.

When I left TMC, I talked to them and told them that I needed to turn in a 2 week notice roughly. Told them a date which was more like 17 days and they worked with me and were great about it. Turned the truck a day after we agreed on since I was 5 miles from home on my last delivery so I could clean everything out of my truck there. I will agree, they were great and an awesome place to work! This was my last load with them!

    First to Gunner75,
I hope this change works out for you. I have been following this thread and was encouraged by your TMC experience. I was actually searching "PGT" in the forums since this is another company I am researching and was surprised to find your TMC thread and news of your move. Although not running OTR like for TMC, I am interested in how you fare at PGT and how the company experience/driver treatment compares.

    To milskired,
Did you make a move as well? Recently? TMC is alluring to all of us wanting a good first experience and the potential for good pay out the gate. Anything strange going on over there that I should be looking out for?

Well I'll be honest ive been researching ideas for another company for some time. Specially since i caught my first fleet manager in a lie on loads in the areas i was running. I always knew i wouldn't stick with tmc just because i want to get into heavy hauls and specialized load hauling using drops and rgn. In order to get into that they want 2 years safe driving, several other companies out there offer that option much sooner, but use companies such as tmc to weed out those who can't drive. Pgt has that plus other divisions of i chose to go that route later on. They also offer a lease purchase option as well and boast that 80%of their lease purchase drivers complete their lease with title to their truck.

As far as tmc goes, they are a solid company and i stand by this thread and the Spirit it was made in. All posts are honest and truthful. And i wouldnt hesitate to do it over again if i needed to. Other than being slow freight season for them and the flatbed industry in general right now, there is nothing to be worried about. Middle to the end of February it starts to pick back up.

I also think this would be a good way to go. PGT has options.
Also, I have been following a thread by cjr323 who has been in specialized for more than a year now with PGT.

I have read so far that PGT is reasonable with lease purchase, although I don't want to be destracted by ownership ideas while learning as a company driver.

They are still near the top of my list. Unfortunately, I am out of trainee highering area for several others such as Keim TS, Melton, Boyd Bros, McElroy, Maverick. And many others require at least some experience.

    Thanks again for your honesty.

I've been gone from there for sometime now. It was back in March of 13 I left. I had a local job offer driving dumps and ready mix so I was home everyday and it was union. Did that for 1.5 years and I just didn't enjoy it like I did being OTR so I saved up and bought a truck.
