The world is going crazy.. If you read related links from the site there is one for "unmanned bulldozers" on construction sites... The funny thing is if the world progresses into driverless and operatorless vehicles (trucks, construction equipment, trains, planes etc..) then what's to stop them from making everything automated without much human interaction... So then instead of asking "why do we need these people to operate the vehicles" then new question will be "what do these millions of people do for jobs" AND "who is going to buy the stuff these vehicles are bringing or the house/apartments etc these machines are building" because no one will have money for anything because they won't have a job... So really what's the point in the long run.. To say we have achieved great advancements in technology but yet we don't know what to do with all the unemployed people... You only need so many people to run the main computers that will be running these human-less machines, so many people will be out of work.. Think about it, you can have 1 person running say 5 pieces of machinery or maybe 5 trucks per person running the computer..

Also like posted who wants to reply on computers alone to be having heavy trucks running down the road, in un-predicting circumstances.. Like like posted who would get on a plane without a pilot to take over if something goes wrong.. Heck all you have to do is watch "Mayday" on TV so see that pilots needed to take actions because of faulty computer equipment... Just like the truck computer can only do so much, as some point human interaction needs to be there..

Say in my job... I run heavy equipment to load my truck then drive.... Who is going to clean off the sides of the trailer where material has landed while loading??? Who is going to move the material that is stopping the tarp from closing?? Who is going to push the valves to allow the lift axles to come down (and lock up when no used)?? Who is going to do a VISUAL pre-trip inspection? These are just some of the question they need to ask....

I can't see this happening in any of our lifetimes.... I can't even see it happening in our kids lifetimes.... Unless of course the government around the world brainwash our future generations into believing this is the way of the world and anything they say is safe... Then we are in trouble :)

First time I see a truck with no driver behind the wheel, I'm pulling in front of it and jamming the brakes. We'll see what its reflexes are like lol. And when it hits me, I'll promptly file a billion dollar lawsuit against the manufacturer, and youll never see me again, unless you're in the Australian outback
