Listen to the guy who told me to INVEST HEAVY in IBM and CHRYSLER and APPLE STOCK and then sell when the time was right
If you could go back in time how would you handle your trucking career?

i liked the path i chose, it got me where i wanted to be
wouldnt change anything, for every bump was a lesson to be learnedCrazy Alex Thanks this. -
If changing anything back then changed anything today, I'd change nothing.
But if I end up where I am today. I would've stuck with the thoughts and aspirations of hauling oversize airplane engines or munitions.Last edited: Feb 1, 2015

I would have liked to gone to law school and become a lawyer. And then truck. Hell, they have the biker lawyers, why not the trucker lawyer?
Or have one of those big house trucks, but instead of a gigantic sleeper with the hot tub and the stripper pole, I would want a workshop in the back, and have it set up to rebuild transmissions. And I would like to have my bike on the back. -
I would have started my trucking career sooner. Happy where I am at. Learned a lot, seen a lot. I do enjoy the driving. Meeting new people, learning a little about each shipper and receiver I come in contact with. Good luck with your career.

I wish I would have Joined the Air Force when I was young.
I just valued my freedom too much and lacked the discipline to take orders back then.
When you are young you think the older crowd has it made because they are all connected with god jobs and careers but than again you had no idea how fast life and opportunity's that only a younger man can do will pass you bye.
sorry I reread the title to the thread.
I would have started in trucking when i was in my 20s and owned a nice little company through out my 30s and be retired by now in my 50s
But never too late to start. -
Oh well. -
I got into trucking almost 40 years ago, and I had a gas. I couldn't believe I got paid to do this job, while my friends were roofing houses and falling off of ladders. However, I sorely regret not getting a county job driving a snowplow or leaning agin a shovel. I could have retired fully by now.
rjones56 Thanks this. -
Seeing whats happened to trucking over the last 20 years, I wouldn`t do it again. BUT if I did it could go a couple of different ways:
I would have taken my Big-Shot teamster buddies offer and went union, and would be enjoying retirement. OR
Would have kept hauling produce, and running with all the drivers who had each others back, never too busy to help when you needed it-no matter what. -
I would have gone straight to flatbed right out of the the gate. Would've avoided years of heartache trying to chase miles dragging a box around.
