Auto shutters can be spec'd on a truck from the manufacturer when they build it. I have not looked into if they will do it after the fact. Not sure why it couldn't be done.
-
That's old school. Father had a late '60's Ford 9000 I think it was with that feature. It had a great big honkin' gas engine I remember that much...like 600 cu in or something?
-
Yes....
The new ones from kw don't have flaps anymore... Just slots or a hole cut threw them. -
May be "old school" but some things just plain work well. A 45-70 is an old cartridge but will do the job quite well on man or beast. Not sure how old school shutters are. We had them on all the trucks in Alaska back in '92 when I moved back down to the lower 48. Some things just plain work and work well.

The largest ford engine that I know of was a 534 cu. Though now that i think about it there was a v-12 gmc gasser. they took two v-6's and hooked em together. I just looked it up and it was 702 cu. Check out thunderv12.com.

Hi Bad Monkey, I think you are right, the 534 V-8, however, 1 correction, I've done a lot of commenting on the "Thunder V-12" on other sites, and I'm pretty sure it was a one piece block. It put out 275 hp @ 2400 rpm. Diesels were coming of age, and it was dropped after a few years. http://www.curbsideclassic.com/blog...es-275-hp-at-2400-rpm-630-ft-lbs-at-1600-rpm/

At 40 below with no winterfront, my detroit 12.7's coolant temp will stay between 180-190° at 950rpm as long as I keep the defroster off (defroster runs ac which runs aux fan).

Is your 12.7 in a 2012 Coronado Glider?

no, the 9400 in my avatar
